Expat should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Used MST transponders?

Anyone know where I might find a second hand one in the UK?

I plan to race for the first time at the HSCC Superprix at Brands Hatch next month, however, this may be the only race I do each year - and possibly at all - and the price for a new unit just to do one race is a little hard to justify.

I've just had to buy one at nearly 200 quid for a box of glue with what cant be more than a tenners worth of guts I thought it was a bloody rip off. but you do get free crimps to wire it up with !

you can hire one on the day . . . .not sure what they'll charge you . . . . my first race I had ordered one but it hadnt been delivered, they lent me one for free !

Thanks for your response. Not surprised to hear that the £200 price tag doesn't reflect the manufacturing cost when you realise they know (and we know they know)they have us over a barrel if we want to compete!

Who exactly is it that hires these out, is the HSCC?

You can hire them at the meeting off MST at a cost 20 quid (well it was last year)

I know its MST, and theres your cost, for one race its not worth buying obviously . . . .but I reckon they'd last pretty much indefinitely so probably worth it in the long run

MST do have us over a barrell though . . .the one thing that always p1sses me right off is the lack of competition, its the same with tyres for me . . .no options, therefore no opportunity to get a better deal !

On the other hand you could say we are fortunatea as we might find no one willing to make such essentials available absent the economic incentive - which in our smallish market unfortunately means a monopoly . .

in all honesty . .a little box seems pricey, but with employees working on Sundays and installing kit all over the place its probably no more lucrative than your average uk electronics comapny ???
