Average points towards the title: Bahrain
As I said in an earlier post, usually to get a WDC a driver has to get at least an average of 6 ppr (points per race).
A win suppose +4 points with respect that average, a second position gives +2, a third 0, and so on. Until now title contenders have done this: Code:
A M B Tot (A) (B) ---------------------------- MS +4 +4 +4 = +12 5.2 2.9 RB +2 -1 +2 = +3 5.8 5.2 JB -3 0 0 = -3 6.2 6.8 JPM -2 +2 -6 = -6 6.4 7.6 FA 0 -4 -3 = -7 6.5 7.8 RS -1 -6 -4 = -11 6.7 8.8 KR -6 -6 -6 = -18 7.2 10.7 ---------------------------- Only MS, RB and JB are, more or less, in schedule to get a score to be WDC. Column (A) means ppr they need in the rest of the season. Column (B) is somewhat difficult to explain. It means the equivalent in one race of the ppr they need to perform in the rest of the season. It is to say, [s]MS needs to get 5.2 ppr in the next 15 GPs and that task is as difficult as getting 2.9 points in ONE race[/s]. In KR's case his task [s]is equivalent to make 10.7 points in a race[/s], i.e. it is unlikely he can do it. It is calculated using some basic statistical assumptions and is approximately orientative. IMO MS has a relatively easy path ahead, even if his Ferrari become non dominant from now on. The only realistic possibility is Ferrari becoming unreliable. I find it a pretty striking conclusion at this early time in the season. In fact, all of them, except maybe KR, are still with some possibilities to be WDC. It is not surprising as we are only in the third GP, but as races pass by drivers will start very soon to get out of the path of the title. |
