Narrow or Wide Route - Does it Matter???
Hi,
I know there are quite a few "what course should I go on" threads here, but I think this one is slightly different (hopefully..sorry if its not!!). I was just wondering what peoples ideas were on if its best to do an MSc in a subject which is quite braod or whether its better to do a slightly more specialised course. I'm in my placement year at Brookes at the moment and am thinking of options for doing an MSc when i graduate at the end of next year. I would quite like to stay at Brookes, and the MSc's there are: Motorsport Engineering Advanced Engineering Design Racign Engine Design Ive always had my heart set on going down the design route, but after working with a team this year I am thinking about the Race Engineer route aswell (i.e. trackside stuff). All three of these courses pretty much have the same content apart from one or two "core" modules. Would an MSc in Adv Eng Desing or Racing engine design limit me if I wanted to do something with Race engineering compared to doing Motorsport engineering? Would doing motorsport engineering put me at a loss if I were to apply for a design based job? I know thats all pretty confusing, but if anyone could offer any advice then that would be supoib! Cheers! |

Not to hijack or anything, but I need the same advice for applying in September.
Whether to do Motorsport Engineering at the start, or a more general one. It's the same sort of advice, so save me setting up a new topic, is that ok? |

Haha, yeah I have to say my typing is appalling!
I think that pretty much echoes what ive heard before, keeping it broad is better when you are starting out, you can always focus on a specific topic later in life. If anyone else has any thoughts then please feel free to comment. (checks typing over.....yup, think its ok this time!!) |
