The $15 million might take into account all the tv or print advertising or other minutiae as well as the sponsorship.

That could be done if managed properly. Have a practice session and qualifing on the Saturday and have a 300km race on Sunday. Easy as that.

So... Mr Phelps from the Sunday Telegraph, seems to think that Mr Richards will be the FPR driver punted to the 'satellite' team, while Mr Courtney takes his position at FPR.....

.. and that Mr Davison is the 2009 driver of the #4 car

To run a 3rd car, without needing to run 3 cars from a single pit boom, FPR would need to establish a separate operation, on race weekend, to prepare and run the 3rd car.

So in this scenario, the #5 car for Frosty and the #6 car for Mr Courtney would be run from the existing FPR garage, while the #8? car for Mr Richards would occupy the garage at the other end of pitlane that FRSR currently uses.

Unless the FPR crew split up their engineering capability across the 2 garages, the 'satellite' car will more than likely be a subset of the mother ship....

Conceptually these separate teams are not supposed to share engineering, data, testing etc... or so it was when the Kelvinmonster was aboard

Where this may change... is the noise that a deal may be in the works to secure a 4th car for FPR to prepare, a 2nd for the 'satellite' team...

Not too sure how pleased Castrol may be with such a change....

One would expect that the first line of that article shows just how thoroughly researched it is. Last I checked it was Tander leading the championship, not Winterbottom.

With such a basic error of factuality, should the same element of accuracy therefore be applied across the remainder of the article?

why James Courtney

Not sure the preferential treatment Courtney appears to get is warranted?
Any informed opinion?
Is Cromley still involved in management?

I don't quite get it myself. Very overrated considering results and smash damage.

If cromley isn't still involved in management, he's still working the pr angle. I remember that one V8 Xtra episode earlier this year where he interviewed JC and it was mostly all about rationalizing all his recent silly driving incidents.

I used to like the guy but no more. He strikes me as an obnoxious brat.

The story was Mr Crompton introduced Mr Courtney to Mr Gow... who promptly signed his young charge to both a Ford factory and SBR driving contracts.

Given the insight Mr Crompton seems to have into the dealings of Mr Courtney, and the proximity of Mr Gow from the local show... it looks for all intents and purposes that Mr Crompton is Mr Gow's local eyes and ears....

Im not betting on whose where how or why for 2009 until current rumors subside - if you listen to some of the teams and various rumours doing the rounds - at least one major team will change ownership and drivers at the end of 2008 with the current incumbents leaving fulltime racing

Crompton and Gow have been involved in JC since he left go carts and helped fund the next steps in his career.
There is no doubt he has a lot natural talent, he can be very quick and pull off some fantastic passing maneuvers. But when its all come to easy, combined with the attention span of a gold fish you get a guy that crashes a lot and makes stupid mistakes every week. To win races you can not do that.

Of interest.. is the noise that there may be a change in the #11 car next season, with the young pup allegedly being trialled against a few more experienced punters.

It seems there are many many changes to be made still

About bloody time if that is the case. Granted the boy does have some ability, but have never seen someone hold onto a seat that long without a good showing.

Has anyone considered that back some time ago when Winterbottom came onto the scene, that he has already being watched by SBR?? I thought that it was part of Larkham's engine deal with SBR that he give Winterbottom a run.

If Courtney was to leave SBR, do you think it could be a trade off with FPR that Winterbottom goes to SBR and possibly brings with him the Orrcon money?? Obviously Courtney bring Jeldwen to FPR. The switch for Jeldwen to a southern based team might work out nicely for them as they have a major facility in Victoria as well.
