Would the red one be Marc ver Eecke. I think that was an A2 version, as was Tommy Kristofferson's.

Was there not an also an Irish driver in a quattro, IIRC Ivan Thompson?

I have to agree BB. Tommy's A2 and also the S2 both sounded absolutely amazing. Especially under acceleration.
At the moment I am converting my old rallycross videos to DVD, and when I heard that sound again

Here's a thread about another unique rallycross car. Have a look, you may be able to help the guy out http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=103531

Very interesting list from a website made in Portugal. Reads also that the Lestander S1 (RE03) went to Brodin, but shows another Lestander S1 (RE19) – and that, if true, would be a real surprise for me. List shows just one car for Breiteneder and one for Brodin, which suits my knowledge. List shows five S1s for 'Race of Champions' (but three for the 1988 event reads somewhat strange, one reserve car?). However, no info on Arnesson, Carlsson, Mavropoulos and Persson, but concerning Bertil’s car I guess it was just an Audi Sport quattro (with some S1 parts) anyway.

Found the names of Olle Arnesson and Bertil Persson now on another page (http://audis1.no.sapo.pt/historia.htm) of the same website – with a nicked picture of mine (Olle Arnesson from my 1992 RX calendar)…

Thx a lot for all the Informatoin. Happy to see that someone was able to rebuilt the totally crashed car of Brodin. Also checked this web8site, and if you follow the Link for S1 number 19 to car-classic.com you´ll see in this article, unfortunetly for some users here it's in German, that this car was never used in Rallycross although the Engine with 630hp looks like RX. They say this is the engine which audi developed for the Pikes Peak races. Regarding to the second portugese link, sent to us by RX-Guru the Arnesson car is know owned by a collector from Monaco.Breiteneiders Car was rebuild and is now owned by Audi U.K . Still missing the Information about Carlsson, Mavropoulos and Ivan Thompson (if he had an S1) . I for myself can´t remember even one these missing drivers, it´s a pity but I was too young in these years. I´m proud that I remember the others and still remember there cars, so in the end again one rumor about the Persson car. I remember, when i was a child and walking with my Dad and his friends through the paddock at the Estering they were discussing about the Persson Audi. My dad was working for Volkswagen and AUdi in the 80's (later he switched to Renault) and he said that this looks more like a Sports Quattro modified with some S1 Bodywork than to a real S1, same as RX-Guru said. But I think we never find out :-( Checked old videos and pics but I was unable to tell if it was a real or a fake one.
Anyway thanks a lot for all the information.

I think as Eddi has mentioend before rallycross use doesnt really help in an old Group B cars history!

I do remember a Danish guy using an S1 (not an E2) and a pretty basic one at that at teh Inter Nations cup at Croft (the second one!!) It was black?

Think the rest of you are righ with usage of the cars though, didnt realsie Lestander sold one to Brodin, that things had the loudest turbo wastegate of any car ever!!
Thought Bertil was gonna buy Herbies car and think you are right about teh yellow one being an S1 with E2 bodywork!

Also seen some footage on teh Austrian site of Carlsson using full Pike Peak bodywork on his car up a Swedish dirt hillclimb, awesome!

Ting that amazed me about eh Audis was that they went back to the long wheelbase car, even Olle liked the long car, and Tommy only really used that one, and didnt he use the old fashioned 10v motor aswell?

I think Mavropoulos only used a 'normal' short Audi, not the EVO version. At least I recall him running without the extra bodywork.

Yes thast right.Dimi had two Quattros, the Wurz one and an A2 he used on rallies.
The Sport was s proper engines car with a standard body and a Cossie type whale tail rear wing!

he often struggled with suspension, but I think he used a pukka Lehmann engien!

the car I remember was used by A Danish guy in teh INter Nations cup in 1990, was black. Short Quattro, was it Henrik Jacobsen perhaps??

As I got pics of Carlsson (BTW, find plenty of pics of the car under 1987, 1988 and 1989 here: http://www.sportquattro.nu/qpix/ace/index.html), Persson and Mavropoulos using more and more S1 bodywork parts and wings over the years I find it quite difficult to say if their cars were just Sport quattros or true S1s. And although I attended the 1990 Croft Internations-Cup event myself I do not remember a Dane in a short quattro. Perhaps our Danish friend Jakob can help…?

Didn t Bertil have the old Carlsson car (Audi Quattro sport), then sure I recall being told he purchased Breiteneiders S1 that he used in 1992, remember him being noticiably quicker which would make sense.

As both Persson as well as Carlsson took part in the 1990 Swedish ERC round with a short quattro it is rather unlikely.

Found in my files a story that I wrote for my Suiss newspaper in October 1990 telling that Breiteneder announced his retirement at the 1990 Lydden ERC round and that Persson was going to buy his S1. But I do not remember anymore if the deal eventually happened.

Hi and Welcome to Ten-Tenths.

I love the before & after shots, I even recognise one of my pictures (Brodin at Mondello)

It's good to know that the cars are still around. I wonder how many didn't make it, and have been scrapped.
I think I remember seeing an ex Schanche Escort shell on e-bay, rotting in a field somewhere in the south west

Rally crash - Audi S1 Quattro Search this on YouTube.

This is the crash that destroied the RE 03 Audi S1 of Bert Brodin. Who ells was driving in this heat? It seems like the only one passing the first corner is the rs 200 (Rustad?) What happened to the yellow nosed Metro?

BTW. I think it is Anders Carlsson that has rebuilt the RE 03 car of Lestander/Brodin. And the current owners are “ace competition”

The yellow nose metro is Andreas Narve. He raced the car later in the day. As for the others its perhaps. Rustad, Arnesson and Dagfinn Larsson but can't be sure without checking the video!

Bingo! Jos Kuypers bought it for the 1999 ERC – when Martin 'deserted' to Opel. Already forgotten. Thanx!

Is this the shell thats for sale on rallycross.com (in the spares list)?
Would it be the second of Martins RS 2000's?

I think the second Schanche escort is now (in parts) in the hands of Guttorm Lindefjell. Martin sold it to Jos Kuypers, who used it and rented it out until last year when Guttorm bought it. The tell tale sign is the single wheel nut used on Martins cars from the second RS 2000 onwards.
