The King is Back??
Well we've all probably read about the on again, off again second coming of the Lord Peter Brock to ascend the mountain and spread his mighty word. Perhaps is is seeking his 10th Commandment as well as victory but perhaps he is just securing the commercial future of his Team Brock.
What is everyones thoughts? I personally would roll a marble across the simpson desert with my tongue if I thought that would bring about a win but in all likelyhood a finish would do. |

I think that unless they pull out some jet engines and really good cars a Finish ( probably a top 10 ) is all you will have to settle for.
Good Luck to them is the rumor re Two cars true |

Why bother. He doesn't really have a chance of winning, he hasn't driven in a motor race since November '97, save for some rallies, and why spoil the fairytale finish.
Brocky, don't do it. |

He would be a fool to come back he's had no seat time in 5 year and expects to do the mount I think not.

How does he qualify for a licence?
Has he been doing the right number of races to keep his international licence? Has he done enough races to keep his national licence? Has he done enough to keep P's? |

I think a lot of people need to stop living through other peoples lives and get thier own personally.
I agree Brocky went out on a pretty high note, and it would be a shame to spoil that, but would driving again really spoil all of his achievements? I for one think it has already, and would add a bit of interest to the race to a degree. I really don't think he would be amongst the slowest out there and I'm sure that he would only race if he felt up to the job 100%. At the end of the day a person has to do what is right for them. Were I in his shoes and thought I was capable of giving it a "red hot go" as he used to say, then why wouldn't I. Would you want to look back after the event thinking "gee I think I could have done a good job today but I will never know". Guys like John Cleland who are definitely not full time drivers anymore can come over to do Bathurst and do a reasonable job of it, and with Brocks experience I don't see why he is any different. I'm not a big Brock fan, never have been, but I do admire the positive outlook he has and his belief in himself, not to mention some of the great things he has done over the years. As far as I am concerned it will be a team decision and I'm sure Peter will try to do what is in the best interest for the team, and even if their is a little bit of greed in the decision to put himself in the car, then that's also fine as I'm sure there would be almost nobody here who wouldn't relish the chance to hop in one of those cars given half a chance. |

I agree with Dazz. Especially about "living through other people's lives". The audacity to use a handle of famous motor sport icon and then rubbish most aspects of the sport. Shows very little insight.
Brock certainly would bring another interesting aspect to the race and definitely would not disgrace. |

I went over to Mallala when Brock was driving the Sierra and Bondy won the race but the best bit was when they did the parade before the race and the drivers were being driven around in sports cars, there was a bunch of blokes along side of us and they shouted out "Wife Basher" when Brock was being driven past! Brock was not impressed!
They must have been related to Brocks ex missus! |

I'll believe he's driving only when I see him strapped into the car. Until then I'll assume it's a beat up.
But having said that, I think it would be asking a bit much for him to drive, no real seat time in 5 years.... Ok apparently he was quick out of the box at a Winton test, but speed at a Winton test does not show me that he's ready to make a race comeback. But I must admit, I think if he did come back, it would be a good thing, cause it might show some of the current crop a lesson in car control, professionalism and driving skill. I'm surprised no one has considered Brock might be returning because he miss the Mountain and simply love racing there?

Is is anyworse than Alan Jones turning up each year to finish 17th? (AJ is one of my faves by the way, I am not having a go at him....)
I don't care either way regardign Brocky coming back. As long as he's aware it might turn out like Dick Johnson's 2000 Q500 comeback, it doesn't concern me. Anything that raises the profile of the sport is fine in my books - being a Ford fan of coure, I don't really care if he does something stupid |

He has had the party, got the gold watch and now he wants to come back to steal the limelight again. It wont raise the profile of the sport just the profile of one person. The 2% of telecast time allocated for the backmarkers will be swallowed up by him. He must have worked out that his son (?) is no good as a marketing tool or driver.

The only reason he is coming back is Money for the team. They cannot get any with just the name Team Brock so what is the next step? put him in the car for a race. The chances of him doing well are extremly slim

Or is he just trying to take the spotlight off Larry's retirement like Larry tried to do to him.
