U2TC to welcome later 60s cars
In a major initiative to try and revive the series, Motor Racing Legends have announced that later 60’s under 2 litre saloons will be incorporated, racing for the ‘60s Touring Car Challenge with U2TC’.
There’s no release on the website yet, but if the following is readable, it’s from an email received... |

Personally i'd love to see Mk2 Cortinas, smaller capacity Escorts and some more Italian or German cars out there. After all the late 60's BSCC did feature such cars running alongside their earlier brothers and sisters. |

I’m surprised the Fulvia is categorised as a saloon, but my knowledge of their period eligibility is very limited, so maybe they were..... |

The big concern is simple from my side, the understanding of what an up to 1969 included (Period G1 in Appendix K) is and I think this has not been considered properly here.
All of the Cortina Mk2s that competed in that era were Group 5 and so were the early MK1 Escorts, the British Saloon Car Championship ran to full Group 5 regulations back then and so were the races at European level. Very few Group 2 truly existed prior to 1970 and amalgamation of Group 2 and Group 5 as one and the true Group 2 we understand or remember let's say. Period G1 Group 2 is basically an uprated Group 1 with freedom to use catalogue parts and finish off the engine but not much really, not even bodywork or wheels freedom. If to be successfull and not to repeat the troubles of U2TC, this will need serious control... |

Thanks Duddha. There seems to be a general consensus over eligible (or not) cars.
Will be interesting to see the first event entry list! |

As I said, I’m not familiar with Fulvia period race history and homologation, so don’t know. I can’t see anyone wanting to race a 4dr, and assumed they were talking about the HF...
