Site Statistics
Stats for the WMSC hearing thread are pretty much on the front of the forum, about 1,000 posts and 30,000 page views.
This news and the sad news about Colin Mcrae has caused a significant increase in views of the site as a whole. Comparing last week (10th - 16th September) with the previous week (3rd - 9th September) shows:
For the week, traffic to the Formula One forum was up 130% and in Rallying/Rallycross it was up 97% Regarding Thursday, traffic had been running at around 3,000 page displays per hour, at 5pm this jumped to over 5,000 page displays per hour and continued at this level until around 10:30pm, server load levels maxed at about 40% of our maximum capacity and we had two additional servers available as emergency standby which were not needed. Our external monitoring service which checks Tenths every 5 minutes shows that during the last 7 days our "uptime" where the site responded within 10 seconds was 100%. |

Oh, and just while we're at it, regarding numbers, Tenths takes up about 4Gb of disk space (2Gb for the site and attachments, 2Gb for the forum database), in terms of bandwidth we use roughly 6Gb a day over our 100Mb connection.
In terms of hardware, Tenths has been running on a variety of hardware platforms since October 2004, initially on a rented single P4 server (which wasn't satisfactory), then two rented Celeron servers (one for web server and one for the database), then two rented P4 servers (again, one for web and one for database). In 2006 we bought a Dell 2950, dual core Xeon, 3Gb RAM and 2 72Gb SAS disks server which resides in a Dublin data center, we also have capacity on several other servers for emergencies. |

Yes, I was much impressed with the fact that tenths didn't go down on 'verdict day' considering autosport and the other major f1 news sites barely loaded up. Well done to all.

Medical Madness
Just don't forget to `burp' the servers and give them their medication each night.

Eh!, why so many congratulations when the meritorious one is the poor server, who is every day, every hour working chained and sweating in the dungeons there in Dublin (where a better place)? Poor Delly, my thoughts are for you.
Anyway... congratulations! |

I am pleasantly surprised.
Usually statistics threads include someone posting "lies, damn lies and statistics". And yet, nearly two weeks later... |
