Why he made the decision not to hire Kovalainen.

I have to admit that personally, I was expecting more from Kovalainen, but his failure to score a point was not too surprising. Jumping into a new car with less than one weeks advance notice must be very difficult. Grosjean was working with the same car and people starting with the tests in February of 2013. It was a gamble for Kovalainen. Ex ante, it was worth it. He could have won big time, but he could also lose. I wonder if Kobayashi would have been in the same place if he was invited for the last two races.

In any case, I think it's time for Kovalainen to look at race seat in some other series. In F1, he is a nice midfield driver with experience, but hardly a diamond in the rough, with no sponsors. There isn't many takers his type of driver, as we have seen many times.

Worst kept secret finally confirmed.

Apparently the hold up was Smedley was contracted to Ferrari until the end of the 2013 season. And for Ferrari, that means the season doesn't end until the beginning of the next season, which is the Australian GP. Ferrari just being difficult, again. Smedley will join Williams before the third race of the season.

Seems as though ex-McLaren, current Red Bull, and was to be McLaren again, Peter Prodromou, is staying put at Red Bull. He has a contract until the end of 2014 with Red Bull, and has signed a contract with McLaren starting 2015. Appears that Mr Prodromou could be in breach of his McLaren contract if the rumours are true.

The matter is now heading to court. Prodromou's garden should be looking really nice by now. Like a forest even.
