BTCC Silverstone

Evening all,

I'm (not so) fresh back from Britcar and wanted to know who I'd speak to so I can get involved at Silverstone for the BTCC. Any advice?

Cheers

Simon

For incident duties, I would suggest Penny Norris at the Silverstone Marshals Team and for all other duties, Chris Logan at BARC. Contact details should be on the respective web sites.

Be prepared to find both already have far more volunteers than they need. I recall that last year, BARC had to turn some folk away. Dig out last year's thread for more background to the BTCC manning / capping levels!

I tried to volunteer last week and know they are not taking any more trainees, didn't say anything about other levels.

Looks like i will have to stand the other side of the fence for once!

NewYankee01 is heading for a stewards' enquiry!
Pretty much the most popular event other than Formula 1 is touring cars in this country as we all know. A lot of meetings can be left a couple of weeks before but this one was fully booked about a month and a half ago maybe even longer ago than that...

Can't decide if to camp for this or not, being middle of October?. I fancy a few drinks in the evening on fri and sat and chilling out with people. Or do I just head home which isn't far away, 25mins, lol.

HairyDJ should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Just picked this up from a local news site - bad enough trying to get all the marshals through the breakfast queue when the turnout is as high as this meeting gets, without the circuit filling our eating spaces with TV watchers and pesky kids!

"The entertainment starts at 07:00hrs on Sunday morning, when we’ll be showing the Formula 1 Korean Grand Prix live in the Paddock Diner, followed by the Rugby World Cup at 09:00hrs. Elsewhere, funfair rides will be free between 08:00 and 09:30hrs for all children. We are also offering a number of ‘breakfast-specials’ in the Paddock Diner between 07:00 and 09:00hrs on Sunday morning. Children aged 15 and under will be able to eat for just £1* and all adults ordering a Club breakfast will be entitled to a free tea or coffee.”

Signon 07:30 and on post by 08:25 (for a 09:30 1st session!!) - maybe if we're not able to get out to post in time due to all this mayhem, they'll cancel the 3 banger races?

Any Silverstone Marshals received sign-on details for this meeting yet?

I put my name down for it at the start of the year but have so far heard nothing. Penny is usually pretty good at sending details out well in advance.

I have emailed her to make sure I have not been forgotten. Don't want to turn up, only to be told I am not required.

Not had anything yet. I know she's been rather busy with the 24hr and the F3/GT meetings over the past few weeks.
