I have to agree about Bottas. While I gave him a honourable mention. A big mistake like that cannot get him DotR for me.

Who would have thought prior to this round that Kevin would be getting the dominant DOTR, with the other mentions mainly going to Kyvat and Bottas!
Certainly makes it more interesting. |

On paper, Button's 10th to 4th looked decent. But did he actually pass anyone?
He got 2 positions by Louis and Massa retiring, 1 more when Bottas got a puncture, he got another few by pitting just as the safety car came out, then another 2 in the next round of pit stops by undercutting. Then after that he was 6s behind Magnussen. After another 15 laps he'd reduced it to 4s (wow). Meanwhile Magnussen was being held up by Ricciardo. You'd think Button would have closed up a lot faster than that in case Ricciardo and Magnussen got into fisticuffs and he could have slipped by. Mags also had the faster lap time. Nah, Button's drive was nothing special imo. |

Another thing that I found refreshing which nobody else seemed to pick up on is that all three drivers on the (original) podium were the number two in the team. Ok for some teams it's a clearer distinction than others but as I see it they were all second drivers.

I always make votes public but prefer to include everyone in case I miss someone whom someone would have voted for, thereby distorting the results. At least with joke votes, you can treat the vote as a non-participation in a way. I do say that everyone has their own criteria for DOTR, although the kind of 'entertainment' value Kamui (or his brakes) provided certainly wouldn't be part of mine.

I guess there's a reason for Simon (GT6's) vote. He was high on tartiflette at the time........

NIco Hulkenberg did not get too many votes here from what was a very good drive!!
Or do we just expect it from him! |

I think we do. It was a very good drive, indeed and would well merit a vote. He was always going to be beaten in this Grand Prix's poll by any excellent rookies, though.

Rosberg's now rated so highly as a driver, and well deserved IMO. It's a double edged sword because now he's expected to do that well from now on.

Agreed. His drive from the time the lights went out was exceptional. Blistering start and faultless drive. But Mercedes was the favourite team for a win so he wasn't going to get as much credit as he deserved. That's why I voted for him.

Nico Rosberg could do that all the time, Brawn was fiddling with his car last year.
Bottas for DOTR, Ricciardo for the title. Vettel will be back to his winning ways soon enough. |
