The Sark is some weeks (months probably, no certainly) away, however the winter project does have a full aluminium monocoque......and as for the distaff mount she will go - eventually!

Peter asked if it is still winter. Well, it was spring here during the week but now it's winter again so feel quite justified in posting!

Got the call yesterday to tell me that Escort engine was off the dyno, so will be collecting it next week. Good news is that rebuild has found another 10bhp! So even more-

Car is ready to roll apart from refitting the lump so then have to decide whether to race it or not and if so where.

Meanwhile have been sorting out 924 spares for the end of April. Got most on my list but can't find a used driveshaft anywhere at moment. Anyone know of one please shout. Second set of wheels (the originals) painted and tyres fitted, but twigged inserts for wheel nuts are radiused and not 60 degree as new wheels are, so had to get more nuts to suit.....

Progress has been a bit slow last couple of days as have been struggling with right (accelerator!) foot. Thursday lunchtime was walking around outside in bare feet (it was that warm then!) and bit later ball of foot became very swollen. Can only think I stood on a bee or something Anyway, only Anti-Hist I could find was 8 years out of date so had to drive to city to get some more. Yesterday whole foot was swollen- and blue for some reason- but not so bad today. AH making me drowsy so not easy to work Good job I wasn't racing this weekend.......

You can take out of date meds, they just may not be as strong as when new. I have just finished putting the Jaguar back together and I have even washed it. The bonnet needs a respray at the front but I am a bit superstitious as I am sure if I got it done I'd bash it first time out so I think I'll leave it.

I'm coming to Snett myself so they can be in the back of my own car. Then when you both break half shafts they go to the highest bidder

I was only going to send them to Mike because his standards wouldn't want horrible oily things in his spares box and he would clean them and make them pristine

Started and finished my winter project today - pulled the XJS out of the garage, checked it over and gave it a clean, so looks like we're ready for JEC / CSCC on 10 April

Visa card OK?

I'll bring some cleaning stuff. The only time a driveshaft assembly will be clean is before it is ever greased! Doesn't help that they need that hideous lithium stuff. The ones WRC used in my day had metal covers on the joints when off the cars so ironically they were clean to handle!

ascona i2000 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Right here is a question for Joe, or for that matter anybody else who knows a bit about the lotus twin cam engine. Over the winter i have rebuilt a friend of mines twink engine fom his mk1 escort. One of the mods is a burton front chest and w/pump conversion. On assembing the pump/module assemby in the kit is a "rubber slinger" which slides over the back of the bearing shaft once the shaft is pressed in to the module. This slinger is on the dry side of the pump and is free to just spin round and round and even possibly up and down the shaft as the lentgh of shaft its on is about 1/2 inch and the slinger is about 2.5mm thick. Any ideas? Ta
