SAE4130/Chrome-Moly Tubing

Does anyone have a number of a company that definitely supplies SAE4130 (commonly known as chrome-moly)? I have tried almost every company in Ireland and nobody has ever heard of it!!! I've tried several in the UK and only found one that could import it from the US (at an astronomical price).

Surely someone on the Tech Forum knows!

All help appreciated.

Your problem could be that you're quoting an American spec; companies in Ireland & the UK will most likely be supplying to BS specs. You need to find the equivalent BS spec to SAE4130; sorry I can't help you there!

Look for some of these names, I am sure they have European distributors.

Crucible Steel.
Jorgenson Steel.

Both of these companies produce steel and both produce the 4130 tubing. Also, check your local area for steel suppliers. They can usually get anything they need but may have a minimum sales amount or may not do business other than with other companies.

I don't have any BS steel specs to cross reference. Sorry.
