I'm not sure it's "going out of fashion" so much as "rotting, becoming mechanically unsound, beyond economical repair", "replaced by something newer" etc. etc.

Once they get past a certain age they start to become cool (maybe for the first time). At that point the owners also change from regular people to enthusiasts - and then the time, effort and money spent on them goes up again. I might not like all of the weird old cars people have kept going but I certainly have respect for them and can appreciate their efforts.

Yeah, that time for American sheet metal and paint was not great. Most of that era 150/250s I see are a painters palette or respray and not original colors even. I know of a couple Broncos of that vintage but all parked and rotting away sadly. A few of the 250 Rangers are around and looking good with period correct tires even but most of my work area is what you would call wealthy with all the toys

And the Bronco is so forgotten they spent s shedload of money making not one but 2 new ones so.......

Not exactly a car but this guy greeted me when I got to the office this morning. Getting a new roof it seems.

Cranes!! Hard to read but I assume the truck is a roofing company? They have to lift all sorts of stuff to the roof....

So not in the spirit of the thread but I did "spot" this pic while searching my old photos for a picture of a Bronco. This is my late high school and my brother's early college 87 Toyota pickup in front of the truck we learned to drive in which was my dad's "home work" truck (he walked to work in an office for the most part). Mind the flags. That was actually our state flag at the time. And those are "European style" high pitched air horns on the roof of the 71 Suburban. And yes, we wired it to a home electrical light switch.

Super jealous. I had an Austin Maestro first (mother hand me down) and didn’t get that until 23. Still at college though.

Mum gave it to me and a cheque for £15 to go towards gas. Drove to the bank to pay it in and got a parking ticket for £15. Grrr.

Yes some roofing truck. But best part about the crane is that it is parked next to the stairs i usually take up from the outside. the door stays cracked open for the workers to come in and out, but it lets all the diesel fumes up into the stairwell too. I almost passed out trying to breath up 3 flights of diesel.

those are much nicer than the 1985 Nissan Sentra 2-dr I drove.

My neighborhood has about 220 houses and a few years ago there were 5 Avalanches. Down to 3 now but that is still a high percentage.

Today the neighbors truck? had a family member visiting. I know you all wish you had seen this in person too.
