I went to an Audi press event at a velodrome in Berlin twenty years ago when Laurent Aiello (iirc) whirled their first Le Mans car around. |

Do you or anyone else remember the Mk1 Cortina debut press event when it/they were driven down the Olympic Bobsleigh run at Cortina? Think by Graham Hill or another famous racer? Doubt if anything modern would fit nowadays!

Right Midget, there is pedaling and… pedaling!
May be twenty or more years ago, it was "Ã* la mode" to spend the winter time with racing using patinoires - skating ring - in course poursuite - only two cars in a row-. One of the best was JP Beltoise, using a Fiat 500. Of course, no spikes were allowed. Great fun. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_XyqpD1_O4 But if that fails (editing the original did not seem to work for me - possibly the absent www?) go to Wikipedia and then cite note 1 where there is a link to this video. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Cortina#cite_note-1 Last edited by grantp; 7 Dec 2018 at 13:03. |

Yeh, but you’re in French France.......
Still laughing about the indignation shown by many yesterday when the o2 network died. Yes, it effected a lot of business people, and I feel sorry for those that it cost money, but most of the indignation seemed to be over not being able to use Facebook or other soshul meedya.... |

I suspect that there might be a setting of some sort somewhere that may automatically apply the understanding that a www is required for a link in a given browser installation and so applies it behind the scenes but that may not always happen on a copy and paste basis in another browser.
The original link and the O/0 correction both sent me to Youtube and offered lots of videos (by some sort of category grouping) in which it though I might be interested. Just not the one you intended to share, John. Might be a YouTube thing I suppose. I agree it does seem odd. Would it be reasonable to assume that the Body Panels on those cars might not have been in pristine condition by the end of the event? |

Other than an outlet for being indignant is there any other real purpose for 90% of most people's usage of soshul meedja? |

Aye, aye sir, proudly to serve and protect here atm… The whole Parisian area is bathed by a not so wonderful pre-war atmosphere. If you need some policemen or army we've quite a lot to send!
E.B, I like your French accent !!!! Please note you can change THANKS for TANKS… |

Re your last line, you are probably correct about the state of the Cortina bodywork - I read a comment that the window winders were punching their way out by the end of the day! |

I ignore if John ever heard about Pierre Desproges, now passed French humorist. He had good ones, like " The enemy is stupid. Why that? Because he thinks we are the enemy while anybody knows he is the enemy"!
Another one was: "What is the best military strategy? Its comprises to go on shooting whatever it takes to have the enemy think you still have cartridges in your rifle …"! I tried this one with my bank but it didn't work for long… |

It depends how you look at it I suppose. I'd have said "My 3G didn't work but I'm quite resourceful so I popped into a coffee shop and used theirs." And the chap who rang Jeremy Vine indignantly shouting "I'm a long distance lorry driver and I NEED to be in touch. " Errr no, you need to keep your hands on the wheel and your mind on your driving. You can always got to a service station. Like you should. It's the guys whose card machines are connected to O2 I feel sorry for. They couldn't process any money. I bet there's a lot of PAYG Sims being purchased as we speak......... Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk |

Cortina d’Ampezzo..... Prob 15 years + ago I was on a summer holiday in the Dolomites, motorcycle touring, and stumbled on the bobsleigh run. Didn’t look nearly as impressive with no snow or ice- just concrete!

Indeed, sadly…
Other subject, from your experience does the same Google research give the same result in your area and mine? I ask because some "instances" like to have their hands on the info market. For instance, a Chinese won't see the same images than a French when typing Place Tian'anmen, if you see what I mean what i dont doubt!! |

John, you know what, late last night I felt a deep relief, my Sweat Heart being safely back from a wild and almost unknown country… She reports having had good professional meetings. She's only suffering slight stomach damages.
Reason is she couldn't find a nice restaurant in the… London area!! |
