Damn highlights again. Jeff Gordon was doing okay, they go for a break and when they come back the names scroll across the screen and he's listed as 35th or something ridiculous. I later find out the gas pedal stuck and he hit the wall. How are you meant to follow a sport when they give you crud like this?
Theres me ranting again!! BTW after Chicago i can see Brad K winning it and Dodge regretting pulling out. Would it be the first championship winning manufacturer not to be in the field the following year? |

I can't believe that the bowtie brigade would be prepared to let Dodge win.... watch for a Chevy not in the Chase and maybe from a second- or third-rank Chevy team wrecking Keslowski any time soon!

Just came across this article from the NASCAR news wire, suggesting it is time for drivers in the chase to consider playing rough with JJ. They say take the gloves off, roughhouse, and even suggest wrecking him!! Here are a few quotes of interest:

I have lost interest with the chase for some reason - reckon the season was going along just nicely before the chase started. We had constant lead changes in the points standings right thru the top 10... Feels flat!
Saying that, Keselowski is going great. Hamlin & the #2 are DoubleJ's only threat it would appear... |

You ain't the only one, mate. The first three tracks this year consistently put on some absolutely mediocre racing. The idea of the Chase, imho, was an attempt to compete against the NFL and to keep people interested in the last handful of races. I have always faded at the end of the season Chase or not, even though last year's finale was some of the best racing entertainment I have ever seen. Come to think of it, I have probably checked out on the Chases until the finale, if its close. Also, kinda depends on how the Falcons are doing.

Between the Falcons and Dawgs you don't have much time for racing this fall! eventually one of those teams will lose and you can watch racing again! Off topic: baseball needs to drop about 40 games from their schedule and finish before football starts. NASCAR needs to drop some races and finish before the middle of September so they can keep a fan base. |

Dawgs v Cocks will be a better show than 'dega. Question is will we another new Chase leader after this round.

Kenseth survives to take a win after the mandatory 20 car 'dega big one. Stewart thrown about like a rag doll.

Jeff takes 2nd and Brad barely got through that. Now he (Brad) has a 14 point lead.

If the initial reports I've read are correct, that was a 31-car pile-up, which is absurdly close to the all-time record.
I'm hoping Brad gets this title. |

NASCAR has 32 races as part of it's schedule and 4 demolition derbys.
Personally, I don't think demolition derbys should be part of any major racing series, let alone 4 of them. There especially shouldn't be one in the chase. It's not racing folks. Dega and Daytona are just a show. They are not racing. What we saw today was not racing. Hamlin said it best. "It's crazy riding around at the back, giving up a chance to win, just knowing that a major crash is inevitably going to happen, then you just slow down, go around it all, and get a decent finish". Such a shame. If the cars are too fast for the track, then change the track. Use the bus stop at Daytona and put one in at Dega. Anything is better than the farce that is plate racing. And - judging by the piles of empty seats and tarped areas disguised as fans - apparantly there are a lot of people who agree with me. |

How do they work out the finishing order when that many cars are taken out? Ambrose was running 6th or 7th when the accident happens & is classified 27th, double J is classified 17th & wrecked too...

THTF, the chicanes would make it worse. Instead of having a 31-car crash on the final lap, you'd have a 43-car crash on the first lap.
Besides, the identities of those two tracks are utterly dependent on their sheer size and banking. There would be no point to them even existing if you changed them into a "cookie-cutter" 1.5 or 2.0-miler. Realistically, Daytona and Talladega will NEVER change. |
