Borja Garcia? He will surely be a championship favourite! Theres some pretty competitive drivers there even though quantity is lacking. Glad to see Frankie Muniz still plucking away at it. He has improved tremendously over just 3 years. I like the fact he quit acting because he loved motor sport!

James Winslow has signed for the whole season - good to see Aussie F3 help a driver through the ranks

Great news for Winslow. It's looking very competitve this year with Vervisch, Edwards and Garcia too. Considering Champcar is now defunct, do the IRL teams keep a close eye on Atlantics as well as Indy Lights?

Interesting question, I know they have done a lot of testing at Sebring over the years, but I couldn't pinpoint the exact year that they last raced there....so I did a little digging. Here is what I found...The last time the Atlantic cars raced at Sebring was the 1988 East Coast Atlantic Racing Season Finale. Scott Harrington won the race, which I believe may have been his last race win.

Edwards Wins Sebring Atlantic Race
John Edwards claimed his first career Atlantic Championship series victory in a dominating performance at Friday's season opener at Sebring International Raceway. After starting second, he took the lead from pole-sitter Jonathan Summerton on the opening lap and was never challenged en route to a 4.731-second victory over Belgian rookie Frederic Vervisch. He earned $50,000 for the victory. "It was an incredible feeling just pulling into pit lane and seeing all of the cameras coming to me," Edwards said. "It was a great race."

$50,000 for winning one race?! I don't understand the prizes in American motorpsort compared to Europe, never have. Can someone please clarify why Edwards got that amount of money for one race?

Back in the 1990's I remember the Atlantic purse was around $1.5 million. Indy Lights was around the same amount. |

Will the Atlantic championship lose teams to Firestone Indy Lights or will more teams try to have a ladder program?
Do some Atlantic teams want to support IMSA instead of the IRL? |

Primetime Race Group of the ALMS has decided to enter the Atlantic Championship after purchasing the Brooks Associates cars. They will be a nice addition to the series, that said, it's sad to see BAR leaving the series after winning the championship in 2008.

Quality of the field is just great (at least 7 or 8 top drivers), but there are just not enough cars
