I just watched the two videos. No substance.

I wonder if this F1 team purchase is along the same lines of his "purchase" of the Sunderland Football Club. In that an offer may have been made by him, and some other backer(s) who supposedly brought money, toward a property that was for sale, but he/they were never really in the running. In the end, it didn't stop him from making noise about it and keeping his name in the news.

I think you can catch a whiff of this through the supposed sequence of events.
Rich Energy will be announced as a minor sponsor for Team X
Then, it will be announced that the majority shareholding in Team X will be sold for the '22 season and Rich Energy will take over as naming rights sponsor.

Not usually the way round those sort of announcements happen....

I am getting an increasing feeling that Rich Energy... in a bizarre twist... will be back with the HAAS team under new owners in 2021.

I am still mystified, like most people, at what Rich Energy’s motives are. There seems to be no clear intention, other than trying to boost their own ego. I would really be surprised if they came back with Haas, surely they are not gonna fall for those Rich Energy chancers twice?

My son gave me that same theory this morning. So clearly that is circulating around. I think the theory he heard was that Mazepin was to buy Haas and that Rich Energy and Mazepin are in bed together.

I guess never say never. It would basically create some evil concoction by combining much of what is wrong with F1 into a single team (not saying Haas, but Mazepin and Storey)

I tend to think that the Rich Energy "back in F1" is Storey is trying to be part of a team purchase in a similar way to him buying Sunderland Football Club. In that probably sent someone an offer to buy it (he may have even been serious). They look at who it was and tossed it in the trash. Then Storey talked about how he was a legitimate suiter for months to get free press.

I think the answer is fairly clear - why does any company want to sponsor (or be involved with) an F1 team?

A quick query - what do you think Jim Ratcliffe's motives are?

Oh plus big up Mazepin as a future champion, the guy is either the most hilarious man alive, or he has teamed up with the Mazepin's who are his "strategic ally" or whatever he called it and they bought a large share of Haas

I think there's a bigger chance of Mazepin being champion than Rich Energy taking over the drinks market. I agree, Mr Storey seems so deluded. Maybe if he started to put some more of his money in, instead of bigging things up, he would be more respected. As it is, I see no reason for anyone to be involved with him. He's a chancer who's all mouth and no trousers

Really? He's got the motor sport world hanging on his every word. He's talking with big fish because they think he's got money behind him. He hasn't yet had to dip his hand in his pocket yet he looks for all the world like a player.

Deluded? I'd say he's got a pretty good handle on his life! He's achieved more in a few seasons of throwing his weight around than I have in a lifetime.

Get to meetings with F1 legends. Have the name of your product on the side of an F1 car. Be the title sponsor of an F1 team. Get inside an F1 paddock. Live out your dreams. Have a series of motor sport forums hanging on your every word or tweet.

Yes, if his objective is to act like he's a player in the F1 world, I'd say Storey has achieved that goal. He's merely the latest in a line of similar characters, and I'd say he's quite successful at it.

i would say 30 pages of discussion would suggest a layer of intrigue no other "sponsor" can command right now, by contributing to this very thread and talking about William Storey and Rich Energy you are adding to that achievement

But how many other sponsors care about what people say about them on a Forum? Most of the time they only care if their product is selling and they are getting good reviews. All Rich Energy are getting is constant ridicule, as Mr Storey seems to care only about his own ego. He should care more about sales, but can’t seem to be bothered.

The guy is an ego maniac, he has had a massive kick from people being aware of the rich energy story, regardless his motives, his money(if it exists) and his ambition, he has got more people talking about him and his brand than most people on here ever would be able to, or most companies would through conventionally sponsoring a back marker.
2 rules to remember
1 there's only one thing worse than being talked about
2 there is no such thing as bad publicity

I have never seen a can of rich energy or a bag of his "wolf jerky" for that matter but more people know about a product they have never seen than they do plenty of brands that have been on cars for decades

And if he likes being talked about, even if that is being ridiculed, and considers the being talked then he must be happy. I am merely saying that, in my view, this is not achieving anything of note.

My other point was that considering this thread as important in his “achievement” rather overstates our importance!

What people say about a sponsor on a forum is one of many strands of brand awareness that many sponsors care about

True, there may be a lot of ridicule being hurled, but there is also a lot of positive comment being made about the brand too if you read closely.

Do you know that he isn't interested in sales? Do you have any evidence other than anecdotal on the amount of sales revenue that Rich Energy is generating?

If you look around, you will find many reviews of Rich Energy posted on many platforms - these reviews are only possible with units of the drink being distributed.
