David L should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Good question....art or crap ?!

KDR raised this important philosophical question in another thread (and what an interesting question it is)..

So, let's spin the bottle, play truth or dare (if you like), roll the dice and see who's "it".. Let's see who's work is art or ?!

Of course, modesty forbids me from starting such a thread with any of my own (and there's mounds of it), so who's going to first to run the rickety bridge of art or ?!

If you like, you can be even more daring by declaring your verdict on your own work before anybody else....

Footnote: Anybody caught taking comments in this thread even remotely seriously or caught taking the hump will be remorselessly ribbed, of course..

My mouth is firmly zipped-though somebody who is connected with the "Friendly circuit" does warrant a short word on the subject though shall not say which one it is

David, I really think you need to lead by example. Otherwise this thread might not take off.

Sorry guys, I had to change the title!! We don't like autocensor dodging, and doing it in the title of the thread's a bit too obvious...

I know "art or ****" has a much better ring to it than "art or crap" (yes folks, crap's allowed!), but rules is rules...

How much blur are you allowed to get away with?

It's a fine line blur isn't it...sometimes it can look great (though I think usually when there is a central sharp point of focus it looks better) and other times it can be quite obviously a rubbish photo. A lot depends on what the intentions of the photographer are. I usually shoot a few with the shutter speed as slow as I can in a deliberate attempt to capture one like that but most I get look a bit pants

Seems that blur is the key factor in the art/crap debate.
Here's a couple more:

The first really is taking the p*ss a bit, but who can identify the car on the left?

The second one was taken at Monza, but I'm sure Paul has an identical shot from Silverstone. Does that lack of originality make it crap?

I think blurry ones in the pits can really capture the controlled chaos of a pitstop

Pescarolo?

Sorry James, I would have binned both of those.

Nice pit shot Gav.

I do wonder about some of the photo editors 'blurred' choices in mags/adverts today.
