You've got to be careful with the artiness not to try and pack too much in there - what would have been good in that shot btracer is if you'd zoomed right back and gone for a fisheye effect close up - you could fit the whole car in and still go for some of those great reflections.

Maybe if the background was in focus.

Yeah, if you'd put it on a tripod or something, it would be even better.

No tripod with me, it just occurred to me it would make a nice image. I was sitting on the roof of my Land Rover on the bank at Becketts and just sat dead still and held my breath. I only took the one shot.

Ahah, that reminds me. Where can I get the sensor cleaned ? I asked in Jessops and the chap didn't seem to have a clue what I was talking about.
Any ideas, how long, how much? Doubt there's time before Le Mans ? |

Thanks for the advice David, I have ordered the cleaning kit they recommend, now all I have to do is pluck up the courage to attack my pride and joy in it's most vulnerable places !

Groupc, which cleaning kit were you planning on using?
I would advise trawling through the forums on dpreview.com to get an idea of the different methods. There are plenty of posts already so just search, and it's best to look in the Canon 1D/1DS forum given these cameras' awful record on collecting sensor dust. |

Damned if I can remember ! I clicked on the lick that David left and almost bought them. Just before I checked out I re-read David's post and saw his subsequent warning/disclaimer. Both his messages have since been pulled - quite rightly I suppose.
Still unsure what to do, the specs are not a serious problem - rarely seen. I will probably do nothing until the send of the season, then have it done professionally. Still looking for advice who to go to though - Bedfordshire. Cheers |

group c you should be able to find the web page again by clicking the history button (for internet explorer anyway)
i like it mike, i've got a few shots accidentally like that where part of the car is in focus but the rest is blurred due to the speed, was it accidental or do you set particular settings? |

Sorry for that, but if you guys search the articles and forums on dpreview.com, bythom.com, robgalbriath.com and the internet in general, then I'm sure you'll find lots of views on this matter.. and you can then make your own mind up. Out of interest, what does your camera manual say on the matter? |

most manuals recommend a blower brush only...
I can't imagine any manufacturer risking the consequences of advising an invasive method for cleaning - as you said David, too much to go wrong. Have a look at this though - http://194.100.88.243/petteri/pont/H...ur_Sensor.html A very good summary for those worried by the prospect of sensor cleaning. |

Anyway, enough of my mucky sensor, still trying to gain approval for my arty efforts...:-)
How about this one then? |

Jessops tend to require a month to clean a sensor as they send it away to be done, fancy being without a camera for that long?
I have had my camera cleaned professionaly, took about 4 hours and cost 30 quid. One thing to remember, if a professional firm damage the camera while cleaning it they pay, you damage the sensor you pay. |

Crap, i'm afraid...
sorry but it just doesn't do it for me. I think the technique of zooming the lens out during exposure has to be combined with panning so that you get some impression of speed. In that one Groupc, the blurring just doesn't add to the impact of the picture. This one uses the same technique but with a bit of panning, and almost mimics a tracking shot: |
