Anyone have a picture of the #37 MG? Having seen Osborne's livery my hopes are high.

Promising timed at the test even at thos stage. In the first 20 mins Tordoff has set a time 7 tenths off the quali record!

You can see it at th back of some the tracking shot videos on Twitter. A lot of white but from what I can see looks quite nice.

If times are indicative of real race pace, then lap records could be smashed this year.

Yep, Turkington is already less than a 1/10th of his quali pace at the 1st round last year in similar conditions.

No Sutton, Crees or Boardley so far?

I understand Crees and Boardley, presumably it’s a budget issue but Sutton not having any time in the car so far is a surprise.

Only 27 cars have set a time so far, no sign of Sutton in the Levorg or Cress and Boardley for Team HARD.

It is probably a budget thing for BMR, maybe Sutton will be out after lunch.

Doubt it would have been budget issues for Crees anyway. He's done plenty of pre-season testing and this test isn't the one to miss if you're short.

Has there been an explanation of why the Dynamics Civics are running the Dunlop boards instead of the Kwikfit ones? I've seen Neal defend them saying they're meant to use them, but not seen a reason for it!

Yep, usually championship sponsor positions on the cars are part of the series regs that all teams sign up to and abide by, so I can't see that a clash withhave a team sponsor would outweigh series sponsor branding.

You don't see FOM stripping beer sponsor logos off F1 cars because they Heineken as a series sponsor!

Because testing is so indicative of where people are. But it's ok you continue your Plato bashing at every opportunity.

Nothing too unexpected from the morning session I'd say.

Good to see Hamilton mid-pack after all the comments on social media about it being a waste of a seat and he'd be way off.

I’m surprised at how the BMWs seem to be up to speed already.

Also, anyone who thought AMD would struggle for results this year, want to change your mind before the season starts?

Neal's comment was more that it was a deliberate choice to use the boards, rather than an obligation. Probably to drum up conversation like this, and give their sponsors more coverage.
Come R1, they'll either be the same as everyone else, or it will be a KwikFit choice to allow cross-promotion of a brand they stock.

Astras are a long way back, and Jelley a bit higher than I'd expect, but as we know it's only a test session!

Smith not doing too badly either in the MG.

I too am surprised to WSR so high given that their first test was only 24 hours ago.

Not the least bit surprised at about the pace of WSR. I was just surprised that people seemed to think they would struggle given the nature of how the cars are built and setup.

I wonder if special dispensation has been given to TD and TOCA/Kwikfit have had a dose of common sense. If you already have a deal with a sponsor it doesn't seem right for a new series sponsor to come in a kit the other out. Didn't that happen in IndyCar recently, where someone lost a sponsor due to the series title sponsor? When IMSA was sponsored by Tudor, competing watch brands weren't allowed. Apparently the reason Paul Miller Racing lost/couldn't have the Chopard sponsorship.

Playing devils advocate, I just wonder if some of their performance is "TBC". Maybe they were given a slightly more favorable boost level in lieu of the fact that they have a brand new car? You might find that come race day, that boost is turned down slightly? Of course I could be completely wrong.

But TD struggled with the FK8 (in races, at least), that was built the same way as the FK2 but the middle bit was different, it stands to reason that any team trying something new would struggle on day one, especially with no testing.

I'm not sure if it's already been confirmed, but are BMR still running the Swindon/Subaru engines?
