Juan Pablo Montoya

Following my post of the painting I did for Reynard, here is another that Juan Pablo commissioned. It shows him winning at Long Beach in '99. It was 20x16ins and one of 17 different originals, that kept me busy over the winter of 99/2000. He gave them to his Ganassi crew to thank them for his Championship season. The paintings were all framed in the same style and presented to the guys at the Homestead season opener in 2000. He also gave one to Mo Nunn who was his engineer but had left to start his own team.
Hopefully he will win the Championship with Williams someday and I might get another mega commission!
I hope you like it - any comments gratefully received.

Very nice indeed and reminds me of that day. Certainly one of the happiest day of my life as a motorsports fan.

Excellent rendition, Andrew. For me it's the tyres. They are - frankly - real. Not easy to capture.

TimD - Thanks for the comments. Tyres are a little tricky, especially the new grooved F1 tyres - trying to get the grooves parallel.
Glad you like it.
Oh well...back to the painting....

Thanks! I have many customers who commission me because they like the detail.
The ship is the Queen Mary which is docked at Long Beach as a floating hotel.

I had negotiated and was to do an official JPM print last year after Monza but it never happened as he changed management. My deal with his old team wasn't carried over. You can't win them all!
There is another on the market at the moment by another artist but as soon as he gets another win, we will see what happens. However all of my work is commissioned and you never know, someone may ask me to do one!
