I hope that Apex can succeed with this project. It will be good to see a Jaguar back in racing.

nice pictures leglizone. just wondering weather there were any plans for any f550s to enter in the citation cup. looking at the entry list for the cup a well sorted 550 could be very competitive

Pheonix still has "imvest" on it , so I presume Delatraz will be in for driving duties again ?

Don't forget it is running on Pirelli, not Michelin so the tyres will have to be better than they were last year

The former. The latter, which did not appear at Sebring last year since it wasn't built until the very beginning of this year, is not a Multimatic chassis. It is a Crawford chassis built for Blackforest Motorsport. Interesting, though, that the Multimatic car apparently was not approved for GARRA GT racing but the Crawford car was.

I'm certainly not convinced Deletraz has anything to do with the Phoenix car. I think it's still stickered up from the end of last season. I think, with my rudimentary French, that E-I was suggesting Giorgio Mondini had been in the car.

You are right, I forgot it had a Crawford tubular chassis. Yes the blue 07 is the so called "Man Racer"

It would appear to be the "Man Racer" as it is badged as an FR 500 GT.

Quote:
Now that I have perused both the rules and the article again. I do not see where this car was ever built for GARRA GT. It fits in nowhere in the, spec1/ spec2, classifications. And from the sound of the article that was not their plans, do to the GA's "restrictive rules".
Quote:
True. The FR500C Boy Racer is plenty fast, but it still feels like a Mustang, due in part to the restrictive Grand-Am Cup rules that dictate, for example, stock rear brakes. Bound by no such limitations, the Man Racer feels, and performs, more like a double-throwdown tube-frame race car. Had you not known, you’d never have guessed that it started life as a production car. The FR500GT begins as a stock Mustang body and chassis from the plant in Flat Rock, Michigan, and moves to Watson Engineering in Dearborn, where 30 hours are spent welding in a roll cage and another 40 stitch-welding seams, making an already solid car downright tank-like. Then the car moves to Multimatic, near Toronto, for finally assembly and paint.
The engine in the FR500GT we drove is essentially a Roush-Yates engine from a Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype and actually is down 16 horsepower from the 550-hp engine Davis wants for production Man Racers. The $12,000 transmission is a six-speed sequential Hollinger unit used in the Australian Touring Car Series. It works like a motorcycle transmission: Pull the lever rearward for upshifts, press forward to downshift. The clutch isn’t needed to upshift, but you need to lift the throttle. Davis says the unit in the production cars should be capable of foot-to-the-floor shifting. (The Boy Racer, incidentally, uses a conventional six-speed Tremec manual.) End quote.
Items not allowed by GA, and apparently a large part of what makes the FR "GT" better than the "C" (Boy Racer).

L.P.

Did an all "Man Racer" series ever happen? Is it the Koni racing series that runs with Grand AM?

The all "Man Racer" series was to be discussed with ChampCars. I'm not sure given the Ford split it is still on the table. Somehow, I doubt it.

Interesting that Paul_Collins and I suggested to the Multimatic crew at Mosport last year, that the car would probably be a good fit for GT3. Perhaps they were looking into it already... perhaps not.

Looking at the provisional entry list of FIA GT3 I noticed a couple of strange things, namely Barwell and Auto Sport leaving the series plus Riverside switching from Corvettes to Lambos. Especially the last one seems like a mistake, Corvette needs to have six cars and has only three while the Lambos are now nine. Anyone has more info?
