After watching the ding dong battle between Davison & Richo during the Carrera Cup races on Ten today...got me thinking...given Davo is a winer in Carrera Cup in Wurpoe how wuld Richo go over there?
I rember his run in the Jag XJ 115 @ Monaco he did well and that was over 10 years ago. Your thoughts |

I have no doubt that he could excell at some forms of racing o/s ,probally in an enduro style event, that is his strenght, very few mistakes and constant pace.

absolutely......think about it...much cheaper entry fees....not a support thingy as with the v8's...all on the east coast.....in nations cup you can probably do 2 rounds, just for the cost of getting to and from darwin....what must it cost to go to perth????

Depsite the East Coast loaction I believe the entry for QR is under 20.
Everyone knows that Porsche cost a lot to buy and to run, but the incidentals of repairs, mechanical and panel between races has caught more than a few out. At less than 20 for an east coast event, the category is heading for a crisis. |

Oh poos!!
There could be a couple of new entries in the series before year's end. Just have to wait and see for the moment. The biggest issue with CC is that they have only about 4 drivers in the "throw a blanket over us" leading pack. The costs are a tad steep, entry fees are not mild either, but the coverage is not too bad. And they get even have excitement such as spins during race meeting ride sessions, which is just great for the passenger's already wrecked nerves. Seriously though, there are plenty of cars, but the cost is keeping them parked. Well that and some of the saleable cars' owners' delusions of their "baby's" value. Let's hope it can be sorted! |

If it costs so much and it looks like the series is on a decline why would anyone want to come into it towards the end of the championship Just do It??

they are actively looking to recruit new drivers......brw's richest 200 list is a good starting point.
It must be noted, that even in one of there own press releases, the touted the virtues of the drivers they have. almost all the drivers had financial profiles that read like a whos who of buissiness in australia.if you think about it, no other australian motor sport brings so many millionares out on to the race track in one swoop. |

i would think that even overseas this category does not attract people without huge financial resources. Also overseas there are the big teams with huge budgets, and therefore they can hire the pro drivers.

on the aussie list...if you think about it...if any of the guys got paid to drive...i think they would be loosing money..and taking enormous pay cuts....but hey..all said, these guys are lucky...good luck to them.....the rest of us can be green with envy!!

they are seeing the series as a feeder series for carrera cup.....logical....a bit of a turn around for them as i think they felt they could go it alone, but falling numbers made them realise....any friends are better than no friends...

in all series...promoters must realise that the old cars have to go somewhere.....just like the v8's have konica...porsche will have their feeder series....after all...if you race one now....chances are you may step up one day...

I have looked into the cost of driving in the series in the UK. If you pay to drive its £100,000 for the year. Put that back into AUD and thats about $265,000 just to turn up!, so I don't think its any cheaper anywhere else. To drive one round in Oz you might be able to get away with paying $15,000 for a round, so its actually cheaper.
I think there are a few people delusional about the value of there cars, and as they come down you will see more people join. If I remember back to when Carrera Cup was formed they originally wanted to take over the then Posche Cup, and combine them. This was rejected by the members of the PRA and hence they went it alone. So all we are seeing is the two groups admitting they should have started together in the first place. |

no..not really...i think the factory policy is to showcase new cars.....understandable....as its every manufacturers dream to show off ya product.......doesn't help to sell new cars if old ones are keeping up!

The old bugga has still got it.... the rainmaster on pole... for what must be the kazillionth time
Here Interesting to see the fall in performance from the VIP Petfoods cars this year... seems they are missing Mr Kingdon's input.... Will Mr Quinn take his not inconsiderable investment elsewhere next season? |
