Thanks for posting that link Mike.

The blue 1978 Capri Mk2 looks suspiciously like a pre facelift Mk1 GT to me, so can’t be any later than 1973. Reminds me of the first car I bought, a 1971 3 litre GT XLR in metallic green, which I later found out was a ‘Rocket’ special edition, unfortunately just after I’d scrapped it!

Really tempted by the Fiat 130 Coupe with orange velour interior

That Fiat trim is so 1970s! Elegant looking cars though....

Indeed. If the airbox of the XPack is an original one its worth to make some copies…
For those ready to invest circa 40k£ in a Lancia Flavia if you can cope with a LHD car, make your shopping in France!

Bringing back the Simca Bertone to its roots could make a benefit almost enough to buy a Lancia Flavia Coupé. We see some 2000 HF around, fist production car to use this type of Bosch injection if I'm correct.
Re the blue MkI Capri, I wonder why the rear seat is one piece? Should be two separate seats may be?

I thought that Richard but this was about his fifth attempt at going straight on there.

There is a slow-mo section of that incident and I suspect, if the soundtrack is meaningful, that he is running flat out - like the throttle is stuck open.

The rear wheels seem to be spinning rather than locked.

There might be a tale to tell?

I had great fun in my 3 litre Capri especially when opposite locking it around roundabouts.

I paid £200 for it & bought it as all my mates were putting 3.0 V6s in their Cortinas & Escorts & I thought why not just buy a ready made one?

I once got pulled over by the boys in blue as the only thing stopping the front wing from flapping was the front bumper & was told to get it fixed. I was planning on fitting a new wing the following weekend anyway. I got pulled again the next week by the same copper who couldn’t believe that I’d actually fixed it, as most people didn’t bother - different times.

Happy New Year to you also Iain, I’ve just reminded Daniel about posting his videos of the two of you in your Escorts at Brands & he has promised me he will

For a short while back in '73/'74 I occasionally used a Capri 3000E at work.

An interesting beast. So much grip in the dry that I found it much more difficult to drift on roundabouts than my more typical day to a day driver - a 1300 Escort van.

In the wet it was all opposite lock at any speed though not always the case when travelling in a straight line.

The brakes were quite good until you really needed them to slow from a decent speed.

The next generation with the 2.8 engine was far more solid feeling car but performance was not so good - though to be fair my experience of it was in an auto and that may not have been ideal for a comparison.

Great story Cliff. Nice way to end my day . Had special Sunday with visit to my old Fire brigade govener now 80 and not in best of health . We spent a good couple of hours reminiscing the old days . Mainly him shouting and swearing at me as I drove the fire engine with 400 gallons of water sloshing from side to side and the crew getting thrown all over in the back of the pump . One time we had a light aircraft come down in a field . I missed the turn and the full time crew beat us to the crashed plane . “ he never forgave me “. 🤨. Me and Mrs Delta had two drinks and nibbles parties to go to this afternoon . You have to do these things when your a top international race driver “ like wot I am”.🙄. Anyway we had an hour to kill I between so we went for coffee in Henley and blow me down I bumped into another old fireman chum who I had not seen for 20 plus years . This was so nice as we both worked at the same garage back in the 70’s.,On to next do and our guest showed me his car collection . Yes he had Ferrari ‘s and E Type Jags but the best car was a 1930’s built car that was built in Henley . The Squire. Only 7 built . Back home and just watched film “ blinded by the light “.If you get a chance a must watch . Happy New Year .

The Squire was a very good looking car..... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squire...turing_Company

But just as interesting to me is the engine, made by ‘British Anzani’. My memories of their power units revolves around Outboard Motors, which were widely used on small boats here until eventually the more sophisticated American Johnson, Evinrude, Mercury etc makes took over. Seems Anzani have an interesting history as well....

Yes a versatile engine. I first heard of them when I read the book Chain Drive to Turbocharger, the Aldington story by Jenks.

Must be due for a promotion to get them away from any position where they might be able to cause real harm.

If it hadn't been for the noise I'd have guessed it was a steam loco before getting close! There were quite a lot of 'pops' and 'bangs' as well when the throttle was opened.

After all that, probably more reliable than the new Stadler trains we have that seem to fail regularly....
