F1 ans Money
Hello,
in this Corona times I´ve time to read the Book about Vanwall "Green for Glory" and have some questions. Before the time, when Shell, BP or others... delivered the fuel to the teams, did the organisator of the tracks organize the fuel supply for the teams?? Another view is the -as I read- big different how the money "runs" today. Did the organizer of the race tracks in the 50s pay money for Driver/Team if they starts at the race and when did that change in that way how it works today? Today the organizer pays money to the Right holders of F1 and the teams earn Money from TV and their results in the races. I would be happy if someone give me answers, because want to know these details. With regards Karl-Heinz |

From what I have read the teams negotiated with the organisers for start money. It started to change when Bernie came in

F1 ans Money
Those were the days, when the paddock was open and cars and drivers were there for the public to see

Indeed the teams have quite a bit to thank for Bernie, he was able to do deals for them and hence leave them better off than they would have been

Can I suggest you get hold of Motor Sport magazine this month? A lot of Bernie's rise is covered in their look back at 70 years if F1. You will find it interesting Karl-Heinz.
