Joest - Groundhog Day.
http://www.speedtv.com/auto/?lvl=3a&cat=23&id=4342
Well, what can be said, Joest, ALMS, two cars, same drivers. Sad. With a chance to move some support to fan favourite Champion, instead Audi has chosen to 'lend' factory drivers into the same Joest cars. As 'TC' at IMSA board said, Groundhog Day. So, it certainly looks like Audi has found a way to have themselves seen as the 'evil' team, and looks set for Joest to dominate again in 03'. I'll be cheering against them for certain, and sure hope that this doesn't become as depressing as I feel right now about it. |

Re: Joest - Groundhog Day.
I think it adds up.
Why should Joest have let Audi go? Why should Audi have let Joest go? |

Why should Champion need factory assistance - think they can't win by their own merit?
Seriously, the playing field just might be more level now. I am confident Champion doesn't need outside help from anyone, they'll keep Reinhold on his toes. (TC is associated with Champion, btw. I am sure his statement was entirely unbiassed, just thought I'd point that out. ) Last edited by cybersdorf; 2 Dec 2002 at 22:25. |

it doesn't really matter if they had the same drivers or not, Joest is the reason the Audi's are so good.

Champion wont factor without factory backing unless they're the only R8 in the field.
I assume Audi Sport North America is picking up the bill for Joest? |

The Dauer Porsches from 1994. I know the ACO's regs have always been there to be exploited, and I know what some have thought about GT1 creations which followed the gorgeous McLaren F1s, but these "imposter" GT1s should never have been allowed to compete in the class. The Toyota should have won that year and it was a travesty when the gear linkage went, but the fact that the Dauer car went on to win made a mockery of the race that year. (As always - IMHO!) |

But as the saying goes..., if the race is long enough - a Porsche will win it.
