I presume he had his stable there but this was referencing his Corvette and his lending his gearbox to Roger... maybe Roger himself should fill us in...

Julian had a drive in the 6 hour in a white GT40 I think. He lent me his spare box for the Vette which the guys managed to get into the car just as qualifying got under way. I left the pits and drove up to the exit and grabbed second gear and the gearbox made a noise like a box of bolts in a tumble dryer for the second time of the weekend. Thats when we were forced to run the Cortina in the 6 hour.

Julian raced his Corvette in the Gentlemen Drivers race I think as well.

I suspect they are repeats. It was only 6 episodes and I think we've now seen all 6 unless I'm mistaken.

Certainly not,it was down to a sharp eared official who noticed the amount of gear changes along the pit straight at Nurburgring in 2002s Eiffel Classic.

I wasn't at the Eiffel in 2002 but I was at the 1998 race when it was first 'discovered'. I was approached by two German scrutineers who began to ask me questions about my car, specifically my gearbox. I fetched out my FIA papers and my copy of the original homologation papers and satisfied them both that Healeys ran a four speed box with overdrive. It appeared that they had picked up that a German Healey was fitted with a Getrag dog-leg box. Trouble was, the owner of the car was a German count and it wouldn't be good to upset him, so he was allowed to race anyway.

He was definitely a real count. I'm trying to remember his name. I'll have it on results sheets at home I suppose.

He is still out there with the same gearbox. Watched a recording of the N'ring program of GT Racer last night. You can see and hear the gear changes. All 4 of them. After first!

Wolfgang Friedrichs DP 214 was recreated in Bill Basting's shop in Chico, California,US. For Ken Lawreance. The body patterns were taken from the 215 car by Master Coachbuilder Ed Myers, of Chico, Ca. built in the early 1990's
