MGB 3330PE

Hi All

Looking for the history if any of 3330PE a 63 MGB, the wings are Fibre glass with Etype mk 1 inserts and are made like that not adapted from older wings.
The only other car I know of is the Ray Dilly car which has Mk2 inserts.
3330 has been modified engine wise in the 70"s and I did find a thruxton race paddack pass in the car. She has not been on the road since 1982.
The wings were originally a mid to light blue so suggests they came off another car.
The photo showing the MGB works car has a dark MGB with the same wings.

Anybody any info on either car.

by 'inserts' do you mean the clear plastic headlamp covers?
these are quite common but the pics are not close or clear enough to see if they are special in some way.

Looking at the pic of the white car Chormy posted, the headlamp covers definitely aren't the perspex covers frequently seen on works and other race Bs- as he suggests, they look more like they came from a Series 1 Jag E-Type, and the actual lights seem to be set further back in the wings than standard- Look at the bigger gap from headlamp to indicator, compared with the car in the second pic.
Those fibreglass wings clearly aren't a straight copy of the standard steel panel, but is it a conversion that was commercially-available in the 60's/70's, or is it something a former owner who knew his way around fibreglass moulding cooked up in his shed?

They are real Etype lenses not copies, the wings are or maybe off the same mould as the Dilley car. I'm still waiting on responses from people who seem very reluctant to part with information even after speaking to them , Quite rude never mind.

The wings are not from a grp mould as used today.

I think this might get a wider audience out in the main forum where I'm moving it to.

I think you'll find the wings to be a copy of the Jaques Counes cars.
The headlights where actually set back a couple of inches into the wing.
