AL Racing should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Well according to ITV's webbsite, Jacques won't be driving for McLaren next year.

Here's a cut 'n paste of it at http://www.itv-f1.com

Quote:
Jacques Villeneuve has admited that he won’t be driving for McLaren next season after rumours linked the Canadian with the Woking team.

It’s had been thought that there was a chance of Villeneuve replacing David Coulthard at the team. But the former champ blamed the demands McLaren placed on its drivers for the breakdown in negotiations.

Villeneuve is notorious for not enjoying promotional work and this was the main stumbling block.

He said: “No doubt the McLaren is great car, but there are other things to weigh up. I wouldn’t go to all their sponsorship dinners so I don’t think the union can work.”

Villeneuve now looks likely to leave BAR for Benetton as the team looks to re-build in time to fight for the championship in 2002. This is when the outfit will change its name to Renault in deference to its new owners.

The fact that McLaren will make an announcement about their driver line-up at the end of July at the German GP suggests David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen are staying put.

This means that they will be become the longest established driver pairing in the history of the sport, breaking the record of Gerhard Berger and Jean Alesi. Hakkinen and Coulthard have been together at McLaren since the start of 1996.
I think it's a great shame, I was really hoping for Jacques to drive a good car again. And with the new record by Hakkinen&DC means F1 is getting dull with no driver change in the top. Well it's great that we F1 fans can look forward to Schumacher, DC and Hakkinen continues battle for Championship in the next 3 years!! Tune in...

I think Autosports story came a bit premature last week, Jacques has said that the contract talks with Bar are the most advanced.
