If the Victorian state govt wants out of the contract, and the FIA cancel the event, how do they sit regarding Bernies contracts and penalty clauses....

If the FIA cancels the event maybe its an easy way out....?

1200Datto27 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
It's one way of getting back down to 19 races....

This is rubbish. Get rid of CAMS.

AASA could run the GP no sweat..no bull****..

It looks like Melbourne might get dropped from 2014 onwards. Take a look at this :-

Once again the AGP Corp is trying to screw the volunteer marshal force although this time they're going to the top instead of the hands and feet like me.

How many of you realise we were issued with a set of overalls for the 1996 first Albert Park GP and we are all still using the same uniforms??

In the 11 years at Adelaide we were issued a total of 4 overalls with the longest time between pairs of about 4 years.

Every year the penny pinching by the AGPC sees something being taken from the 1100 strong CAMS volunteer marshal team.

Don't all die of shock in the fact I'm defending CAMS on this one......
Thank you for posting this.

It is really disappointing and saddening to find out it is in this state of conflict.

No wisdom to offer, just hoping it is resolved for the best soon.

I know the South Australia government has no money at the moment, we are investing it in Italy for some reason.

And now Nov 29 and still nothing. I can't see Bernie helping out...after-all he just lost an amount they are probably disagreeing over

On balance the new government is probably a good omen, less likely to pull the pin I think.

Maybe Australian politics, both in terms of the State government variety and the motorsport organisation variety may have reached an interesting impass.
Ron Walker hot footed it to the 2010 Final of the F1 championship to confer with Bernie about this but it would seem that this dispute was not settled at the meeting in Abu Dhabi and that CAMS have circularised members "discouraging" them from officiating at AASA meetings.
It would seem that this could be a dangerous game to CAMS. While currently it is unlikely that AASA would have the ability to take over running of the AGP, if the CAMS action is seen as being primarily aimed at putting them out of business, and as a result the AGP is lost the backlash could make some of the earlier turf wars in Australian Motorsport look like kindy-play.
Have any of our Australian "officiating members" any thoughts on this. What was presented by both sides as a dispute over fees looks as if it could have other causes.
Add to that the fact that a new incoming Government may see dumping the GP as a way to show the voters that they are "cutting the waste" as promised and the GP could be on rocky ground when the contract comes up for renewal.
Methinks the election result might have blindsided some of the people involved.

They have just announced their first sports related withdrawl from funding via tax payers money.....

It will be interesting to see the stoush that arises out of the GP, those who already oppose it will be lining up to lobby the government to get rid of it. Mind you nothing is what it seems when those in power start talking turkey. I think it was on a downhill slide anyway so this may just accelerate the end result. For sure BE will want it settled very quickly in order to arrange the replacement venue so I doubt it will be a long drawn out decision.

SpeedCafe's story may be true, but it's curious that the 'news' isn't on the
CAMS website yet.
