I't being repeated loads of times over the next few days.

I've just watched it. A good programme 1 hour long with loads of action. BUT, where was the Stockhatch coverage. I am going to watch the next showing with a stopwatch. I bet the crowd scenes and presenter pieces add up to more time than the Stockhatches got.

Well I got the stopwatch out.
Presenter pieces, and crowd shots 1 min 46 secs, Stockhatch coverage 1 min 25 secs, and thats in an hour long show.

If I had been there, there would probably have been less
It isn't yet but will be soon I hope

The strange thing about the break up in the transmission was, on the first showing there was only one small break, but on the 11 0'clock one, it was the whole of the last section that was breaking up. I dread to think what it will be like by the end of the weekend.

i have to agree with you Mark, about Samantha Thom. What a brilliant racer she is. She pulled the same move at the top of Hairy Hill twice, to pass Ben Rennison and Mathew Nesbitt.

Yes the racing is cheap and might be good but is is as news and camera friendly as a lass i Minis, No! Is ir spectacular like the supercars, No. Is it brawn against brains like Modified, No!
Does it get the crowds in, No!

Stock Hatch drivers (which there is many of...) also pay towards the TV coverage, so fair is fair. There has been some very good stock hatch races races televised over the past few years.

So tell me whats wrong with the spectacle of stockhatch? Apart from the speed that is.

You will see more do or ie moves in stockhatch than any other class - surly that makes good viewing?

It might make good viewing sometimes but its kinda like that awful Fiesta stuff they put on Motors tv, the cars look a bit scruffy (not all of them OK!!) and they look a bit slow. Just doesnt work on tv. The Minis are slow yes but they look kinda funny and are driven by kids, the rest of the classes are fast and spectacular, result,, better tv.
I am not saying that it shouldnt be on there, but its a budget class for beginnners effectively so why expect 10 mins of coverage?
I am of the opinion that the coverage being based around Irish tv probably means some of the drivers are paying for it anyway? Is this true? Its happened before!

Got to disagree with you Chunder
Since I helped out with Dave Ewin and knowing Hal Stockhatch is pretty good and all cars should have equal coverage.

I get far more enjoyment from helping out with Dave than I did with the last team I was with in Rallycross.

If it wasnt for Stockhatch some events would struggle to get the entries up

I suppose it also has to do with the fact that the broadcast is clearly sponsored by Kumho tyres and Stockhatch drives on another brand?
And if you all are fair, BRDA stockhatch was clearly the most boring class in Lydden, with Godfrey winning it by a mile. On the other hand, the mini's and Supermodifieds were extremely nice, not to mention the superfinal.

Yes chunder, I agree with most of your points. BUT, the thing is all classes pay the same money for TV coverage. I am not asking, and indeed I don't expect to see much Stockhatch coverage, but I do think that less than one and a half minutes air time was a bit tight. They could quite easily have cut one of Brid's pieces, and one interview (there were at least a dozen) and doubled the ammount of airtime given to the Stockhatches. Three minutes in a one hour show is not too much to ask.

Hi
I agree that more stock hatch coverage would have been better, perhaps a montage of qualifying heats before showing the final, with an interview of one of the drivers.

Must take slight issue with Silver Bullet on one point though, all classes do not pay the same towards the TV fund, supercar most, stock hatch least. See the entry forms on the website for the full schedule of costs.

Overall, i thought the coverage was better than last year, and the extra half hour helps.

Sorry Andy, I thought it was the same as last year. I haven't looked closely at an entry form this year. Pressure of work is keeping me away so I probably won't be filling one in until Knockhill. I promise to look at it more carefully when I do
Supercars pay 3 times as much as Stockhatch, and Supermods twice as much. So it is only fair they get the bulk of the coverage. I still maintain however that at least 3 minutes for the Stockhatches isn't too much to expect.

Yes it is way better than last year. The emphasis is more on the action. The fill in stuff has been kept to the same level as it was in the half hour show, so it does not seem to take up half the programme, as it did last year.

Pembrey coverage is on Motors TV tonight.
It's a bit short notice for the first showing in 5 min's, but it is on again at 11pm.

I have to say I could not fault tonights coverage. All classes got a reasonable amount of air time (even Stockhatches). Plenty of action and just the right amount of fill. Great programme, well done

Mind you, I had to laugh at young Like Pinder's comment. Looks like Tina's giving him good tips in the art of rallycrossing
