Arguably could be on Supercars radar as Supercars, not a support category?

I have still yet to watch a superutes race and use them as an opportunity to do other things I need to.

The slightly earlier incident with Edwards moved across the front of Pretty, it was hard to tell from the tv but I wonder if Pretty lifted his foot which might have avoided turning Edwards around at 200k+?

So... what of the noise at the back of the sheds about a switch to a V8 crate engine for next year for this class...
Coyote-ho... Will the dealer/manufacturer interest suddenly dry up if the Ford is installed? |

They definitely need something more sexy than a 4cyl diesel, but a common crate motor will kill dealer/manufacturer interest.
Pretty much every manufacturer involved has a petrol v6 somewhere. Just add twin Turbo's!! Probably not exactly cost effective though. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

I actually don't mind them.
I think the racing is ok for what it is. It's nothing like the old V8 utes, and it was never going to be. |

I think its a sensible solution to SuperCars silly decision to back a diesel ute category. The Superutes now look right, at least in my opinion, and most of the non engine issues have also been solved, ideally the 2020 V8 Super Utes should use the exact same crate engine as the TA2 cars, which would mean the name Superutes would be appropriate, as they would be seriously quick, and reliable. A V8 Superute would at least have some market relevance, unlike the TA2 cars, so some big brand ute dealers would probably stay on board. Time will tell if the category can survive, but its a big step in the right direction, so hopefully they not only survive but grow in entries as well. Cheers, Mark. |

Should have just kept the old V8 Utes series.
They dumped them and brought in the new series to be "market relevant", so putting a petrol V8 into them will destroy the "market relevance" completely. So back to square one. The whole thing has been a very expensive, very poorly thought out venture. Also, it's pretty rich of Supercars to can the old series, force this new series on the competitors, then when it fails miserably, cast them off like last nights' leftovers. Pretty sure most of the competitors in V8 utes were happy to keep going as they were..... |
