minimangler should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
So...Group 5, Group C, or LMP?

This has been bugging me for a while- which is best? I have an inkling which will win, but i'm interested to see if i'm right.

When I say Group 5 I mean 69-71 (917, 512, T70).

Cool?

I agree and suspect so too. Tim the Grey will likely go Group 5 but I can't think of many (maybe DJ) who'll choose LMP.

I'm reckoning all but a whitewash for group c...

I just has to be Group C, i've never been more interested in a category of cars (other than group b) which i've never seen before and only had the chance to race them on games. Group C has to be the highlight of any prototype racing so far.

Group C by default as there's no GTP (as in IMSA) category

Current LMp looks good, but, i'm too young to have seen the group C cars from the trackside.

I also liked the Gt-One or R390Gt1

Yes, your right, 90s GT1 was the best.
I really think a 3 category LeMans would be the best with 90s rules
GT1 and GT2, with the addition of privateer opentop LMP.

Hmm a few years ago it would've been group C probably but the new crop of LMP's that's shaping up has me really excited about prototypes of the present day... so modern LMP for me

'90s GT1 would definitely take the cake though...

Group C of course and group 6 too (Matra 670, 312P, Alfa 33TT12, Alpine A442, 936...).

Would probably be the other Group 5 (935, Turbo Capri, Lancia Beta Montecarlo) for me...
As this isn't an option, Gr. C wins, because I had a 956 and a Ford 100C on my slotcar track when I was 5.

I voted for LMP although I don't know if that is true or not...Group C was certinaly when sportscar racing was its brightest, but each are cars of a generation - different times of sportscar racing, and I think the fact that they are different to group C is why I voted for them...

Although if the GT rules of the 90s was there, thats probably what I would have voted for...

Group C for me, quite alot of manufacturers were interested at one time or another (pity not at the same time), a proper world championship for the cars (before FISA spoiled it) etc....

Having said that if you could get a full grid of LMP's and a proper world championship going, i think the sight would be just as fantastic.

Jag XJRs, Ford Mustang & Probe GTPs, Corvette GTP, Porsche 962/956, AAR Toyota Eagle, Nissan GTP-ZXT, Mazda (horrible sound that I'll never forget ). I am sure there were others that I just can't remember at the moment. It was a good time to be a teenage car nut!

I like GTP best, lots of interesting cars there, like the Chevy Intrepid, Toyota Eagle, Nissans etc, followed by GrC. But LMP is getting pretty exciting these days as well, with the coupes

I've voted for LMP. I'd have gone for Group 6 more than Group 5, and Group C over both. However, I never saw them so I can't judge nor comment (although it bugs me that whenever a chance to see Group C cars comes along, I always find I can't get there! its annoying!).

But LMP's aren't bad things, and if the manufacturers didn't flock to Group C then we'd all be here calling it a failure. I personally think we are on the verge of a golden LMP era, as more cars flock to the grid.

I'm also another one who would have been tempted by a 1990's GT1/2/LMP option, though...

Easy choice in reality for me, GpC no suprises there! Although the Group 5 era was a close run thing just for sheer brutality mixed with great skill and determination.
