That was likely the year we had the N24 the week before the race (that was a VERY hard couple of weeks!)

Actually, thinking it, it was probably 2010 since I remember you three running over GT1 lol that year it was month before LM. I believe you Hindy and Truswell did N24 entirely by yourselves then, that was enndurance run

Waiting for strict timings of the broadcasts, but meanwhile here's Hindy's presser on FB

Am I blind or did the forum on the website (Listener's Collective or whatever it was called) get phased out when the website was revamped earlier this year? Or maybe practically got moved to Facebook.

No idea, I only ever visited it once or twice a year. In comparison to FB and here (particularly), it was pretty much redundant.

Event previews and coverage are more valuable the sooner they are posted. Longer it takes to upload, the less its likely to be listened to. Quote:

One thing RLM coverage needs more of is current or recent drivers, the insight is great when they can get it. |

It's showing blank here after the text bit. http://www.radiolemans.co/2016/06/05...2016-test-day/ (As usual, something came up and couldn't follow live again after all. Now avoiding all things specialist media - and certain threads here ) |

FB is garbage, I'll give you that and I rarely visit the MWM pages as I can't deal with the manner in which they are 'policed', but there is useful information to be picked up from elsewhere on FB from time to time. And we definitely don't need a dedicated RLM sub-forum...... The resources available here, both in writing and to be sourced from our members far outstrip anything I ever saw on the old RLM forum..... |

The old forum was a mess of epic proportions, not to mention buggy, but at least you found what you wanted relatively quickly, unlike with the FB force feeding and it's non-existing archival value.
I find the whole 'collective' a little bit too "insider jokey" and defensive of their realm but I agree if you want info it's a good place (if dig deep enough). Anyhow, wish they had the class previews dates lined up already in schedule, even if not recorded yet. I guess they need to set up chat sessions with that Travel Destinations fella again... |

I wasn't looking for a place to talk but a place to leave feedback (more of a technicality), so I guess FB it is then.

The RLM schedule is (partly) updated and the class preview shows run from this Thursday to Saturday every evening, so very soon indeed. However not sure if it starts with LMGTE or LMP1 as the title says nothing - probably GTs
On the second qualifying day, there is a 4 hour live slot for Pitwalk (as said before IMO the most informative piece all year), followed by 1 hour preview + 45min qualifying slot for Road to Le Mans, which is nice. |

They are all only 1 hour each (unless typo or gets changed) so I'm not exactly sure how they are gonna fit everything in, especially if those long Travel Destination ads get jammed in between the entry lists like every year.

The Travel Destination infomercials aren't too bad, although I'm not sure how much use they are a week before the event and how likely it is that any newbies would have found the previews.
The Mobil1 content was much poorer. The bloke spent 15mins explaining how clever Mobil were and could make oils specific to any engine but then admitted all the teams just used the off-the-shelf road car oil (which seems a much bigger endorsement to me). |

Yeah in a way I like those TD chats as it's very much "getting in the mood of Le Mans" even if you hear more or less identical content of discussion every year (they could just repeat the same interview from 5 years ago and it would probably lose nothing) but I agree releasing it so close to the race seems counter effective. When they used to record these ~ about three weeks earlier it made more sense

Commercially I think it works as long tail marketing. I doubt it convinces many people to go this close to the event, but it plants a seed saying 'going is eminently possible, and here's how you can make it easy'. I distinctly remember listening to test day coverage in 2006, which had quite a bit of travel advice in there, and this led, in a somewhat indirect way, to going in 2007 - although I will concede that I didn't book with TD... |

Admittedly, I could easily just fast forward those bits in the podcast, but I do end up listening them every year somehow that TD guy is not as dry as the PR men usually are

Those Le Mans previews worked for me, seeing as how I've been a guest of Travel Destinations on two of my three trips to Le Mans. Agreed that it doesn't do much good the week before the race, but it does plant the seed and it is helpful for people who are coming from far away. You definitely pay a premium to stay with them, but they know their stuff, are very friendly, and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcomed. Many great memories have been made at that little spot on the outside of the Porsche Curves.

Having always been at the circuit with next to no connectivity all the time they're broadcasting, I've never seen any of the Studiovision.......
