I think a new general thread would be useful. There was one during the convergence talks but that's now old info.

It's also "GT Premium" or GTP next year, no more GTE after Dec 31.

Only place I've seen it mentioned is in that pdf but it might have taken out of context because for example on p. 12 it still says GTE. But it sure is a funny nickname.

Looks like the thread title doesn't anymore update even after editing it.

I'm going to find it weird calling these cars GTPs next year. When I think of a GTP, I think of cars like these.

Will always be GT2 in my heart..I do wonder if the people who thought up GT Premium were drunk again. Hopefully in 2020 we can move onto calling the class Le Mans Passenger Car.

Porsche dont seem to have the ability to match other teams in outright pace anymore, i wonder if they will develop the cayman into a GTE/GTP/GT car?

Why don't they just go to GT1 (2016 GTE-Pro), GT2 (2015 GTE-Am), and GT3 (FIA GT3) in 2016? Does that just make way too much sense?

Eurosport's commentators during LM were pretty convinced we'd be seeing McLaren in GTE next year, or in '17. So it probably won't happen...

This year's LM race and results shows imo we can get rid of GTE/P-Pro and Am and merge them back into one class.

Am drivers that want to compete in their own class can go P2 (which is becoming more restrictive and cheaper to run from 2017 onwards anyway) or go GT3 (and focus on getting skilled at Spa and the Nurburgring before coming back to Le Mans).

The new models will make the merge almost impossible for next year but it could be done in 2017 without too much difficulty (as that is also the year the new P2 rules come into force).

Is Aston going to redesign the Vantage for these rules? Last comments we heard, they said the new cars would be very aggressive. Wonder if that includes them.

This would be great. To keep the gentlemen happier, they could award a cup prize for the best, but only for the best finisher inside the GTP class (at Le Mans and maybe in WEC as an award after the season). I just don't care about GT Am.
