yeah you are not wrong, only 40 odd minutes of dry running for a rookie in his first Bathurst and he brains it.

If he hadn't hit the grass at the end he would have done a 2.03 and had pole.

Great laps from everybody - very exciting session.

Not really a true rookie. He did two seasons of Super2 and IIRC was actually less impressive in his second season with a COTF, rarely winning Super2 races and certainly not dominating the Super2 championship.

It's hard to judge the progressions of rookies in Supercars.

Slade seemed a star when piloting the Lucky7 Stone Brothers Falcon, but has done little to appear a future champion since.

Likewise Waters and many others. Future champion or not? Can't tell... Pity.

I would argue that that particular COTF chassis has yet to distinguish itself with any kind of glory, so it might be unfair to blame the pilot completely.

Could we see only the 3rd time a chassis has won 2 Bathursts tomorrow?

Agreed the FG-X in the PMM stable was never that flash to begin with. Pretty sure it's the Pussy Delorean, which Mr Ingall and Mr Waters described as a bit of a dog.

The dude has never raced a COTF at Bathurst, had 5 wet practice sessions and damn year gave us a 2.03 in shootout conditions, that is a mighty fine performance, McLaughlin style.

Any guesses on which other car spun the real wheels in a pitstop earlier in the day but escaped penalty?

The penalty on the #9 was clearly called for but but nor penalising the other car it just reinforces the notion that Race Control only issue penalties for this when the commentators mention it.
