GP3 vs F3 vs F2 vs WSR

Do we really need GP3? Will Renault scrap WSR in favor of GP3? Is F2 dead before it gets going? Which will drivers choose to compete in? Which one will eventually rule?

I think with GP3, it's the end of Formula Master. Basically GP3 will be a better Formula Master. Teams will be 50/50, GP2 teams/other teams. We need to wait and see the pricelist and how much will be the season for GP3.

Ivan it's funny you say that about teams, there is one that isn't GP2 and yet claims (already) that it has a secure place in GP3.

That's what I meant, 50/50 between GP2 teams and other teams. Not GP2 teams only.

Where from this information came ?
I heard only about 10 teams X 3 cars each = 30 cars on the grid.

If that story about 50/50 true i wonder which teams it will be? Lets guess:

GP2: Addax and ART 100%,f-euro-bmw duo FMS and DAMS 80%, Piquet or Isport.
Other five: Mucke,Raikkonen,Fortec from f-euro-bmw, Carlin and Prema.

Your thoughts ?

How is all this meant to be funded. All we will see is all the series running with half grids and little depth of talent in any of them, and no chance of development which would happen if all the good drivers were pushing each other. Its all about politics and self interest, what a mess!

The funding will come from Formula Master's drivers + a bit more. I actually doubt if they can make 30 cars on the grid. Part of this spread between GP2 and other teams is securing new teams for GP2. I.e. if DPR and Herck decide that was enough, they have a new team ready to come into GP2. I guess we will have more news after Nurburgring.

Teams from GP2 and WSR 3.5
bid for slots in GP3

According to the latest rumors collected by Italiaracing.net, the GP2 Series teams interested in fielding three Dallaras in the newcoming GP3 Series are ART, Barwa Addax, Dams, iSport and Trident. Many request has been sent out by current World Series Renault 3.5 teams, like Carlin, Prema, Draco, Fortec and Tech 1. In addition to these requests, Signature brought its bid, together with many other squads racing around Europe. Only 10 teams, managing 3 cars each, will be accepted.

The series' weekend schedule will be similar to the GP2 one, with just one practice session plus a 30-minute qualifying, followed by a feature race and a sprint race. The schedule will be following the one of the GP2 Series, except for Monte Carlo and Istanbul. The car, built by Dallara, will be powered by a straight-4 2-litre turbo engine, developing 400bhp, and fitted with Pirelli tires.

And then with this, what will be with Formula Masters teams, if GP3 bidders are current GP2 / WSR teams???
