Isn't the livery that the Monza for sale is in the wrong one?

It is portrayed as the one Brock drove against AJ in 1982 (which was later sold to Bryan Thomson and turned into a Supra, owned by the Wall's since 1990), yet is the one that was supposed to driven in IMSA by Brock and raced once in Brock's hands in a plain red livery sporting #27.

Would need to see a photo of it - can't find a photo of the car in the collection anywhere. Do you have a link?

The collection at Dreamworld contained quite a few "Tribute Cars". The VP Commodore was an auto!

Which is why I'm confused as to the outpouring of emotions over it all.

Wasn't there someone on here with a bonafide HDT chassis that was denied a COD because someone did a jam job on a replica of the same car?

Are you thinking of the 1980 ATCC winning VB Commodore?

Not sure on the specifics, but it was from that era.

Yep - you're right. The actual Monza raced against AJ in 1982 is easy to spot due to the windscreen curving around inside the A pillars. Bloody cleverly built car that one, Pat Purcell really delivered with it.

If 25 is worth 2m, what value would be on 05

A whole lot more you would think, but then how much?

Luckily for the Bathurst museum, the value of their donation would now be 'priceless'.

With its questionable provinence, I can't see how it's worth $2mil.

The firewall chassis number (#7) which authenticates it back to the original HDT build; plus all the ($$$) restoration work involved bringing it back to 1984-race condition - surely makes it worth an awful lot.

It's being pushed as the actual #05.

You'd want to make 100% sure it is what you say it is, before commanding that kind of money.

The #25 car was damaged in the rear left quarter panel at Bathurst.

The car on display at the Bathurst Motor racing museum should show no signs of repair. I am not sure if this has ever been investigated.

Those who should know which car is which, aren't letting the truth be known.

If you read through the original investigation by Bertie Street, and the follow up article a few years later in AMC, it really leaves little doubt which car is which.

The car up for auction would be worth more pretending to be #05 than it ever would be as #25

There's no secret about the controversy surrounding the two HDT VK Group C cars, however it is to pointed out at the auction in any case:

https://www.news.com.au/technology/i...78b782343bfe09

Quote:
Lloyds Auctions head auctioneer Bill Freeman says all bidders will be made aware of the controversy surrounding the two cars.

“In the end every bidder will be made aware of all the facts, including new information we will release closer to the sale,” he said. “At the end of the day, both cars are very important.”

Pin has pretty much labelled it as a fraud. The Bathurst Museum car is the legit one
