apriliadriver should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
ECG test

I have searched the Forum, but the info. is fairly thin. The place I have been going to for the last 20 years has ceased the service.

Apart from Motor Racing Medics in Surrey, is there any other place Tenthers would suggest for doing the Stress ECG needed for International licences in the South-East, preferably within reasonable distance of London ?
Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick, last year I heard that Kettering Hospital would do it for £100, so I went there. Bit of a trek up the M1 for you - or down from Wolverhampton for me - but maybe worth it if they are still doing that price this year?

Then again when I told my GP all about it he said he could do it and he's just round the corner- so I'll see next time!

Alfa76, Kettering General is where I've been going for the last mumblety-peg years - it had an arrangement via the Vintage Sports Car Club. But they've decided to stop doing it. You're right, Kettering was quite a trek but I could usually combine it with some work travel.

Ian, thanks, I will look up the Porsche offering - I wonder where they get their consultant cardiologist from ?

SCVC, Surrey Cardiovascular Clinic, 5 Huxley Rd, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 7RE. Tel 01483 467100 www.scvc.co.uk will do a Stress ECG (Bruce Protocol) on treadmill for you. Not sure of the cost as my brother in law is one of the Cardiologists!

Does that mean they'll take a bung?

Can you do it on a bike rather than a treadmill?

That's correct, the stress ECG is on a bike.

Its a very impressive set up, lots of machinery and stuff for professional drivers. It's worth going just to see the kit that they have.

Thanks Iain/Simon.

Do the results appear automatically on your med notes?

Sounds like the place to go - although I thought ECG stress test was only for those over 50? Previous med exams I've had for MSA have only involved a quick chat with the family quack and a once over with her stethoscope . She told me once I had the blood pressure of a twenty one year old and ever since then I tell Mrs Morrison on a regular basis how lucky she is to be married to her toy boy

Nick you need a stress ECG for an international licence every two years if you are over 45, not sure on the regs for under 45s. As for appearing on med notes, do you mean notes with your GP? I had one done a few years ago and my GP didn't know until I told him and he wasn't overly impressed that I'd needed it anyway.

My ECG was on a tread mill but I expect doing it on a bike is far better especially now as I have problems with one of my knees.

Thanks Tim.

Yes I meant does it appear on the med notes held by the doctor. The reason I ask is that life insurance companies work in mysterious ways and if they see you have had one they sometimes then start to get hitters on the basis that you would need one unless there was a potential issue and load the premium as a result.

That's the problem I had with my GP, he was concerned as to why I'd had it done.

Apply around March then you get to stretch it out for three years.
I have a knee problem as well Tim but fortunately my new doctor over here has the bike, , really good. €35 all in!

I didn't think you could do that with the ECG in the same way as we do with the yearly medical not that I would bother any way as I have no need for an international licence.

Yes, works same as medical. My last ECG was Jan 2013 so as long as I apply for 2015 licence ASAP (soon as forms are out- come on MSA!) will get next season for free.....

For info to any Forumists needing a Stress ECG, I rang the Porsche Centre today and they are no longer offering Stress ECGs : one of their Heart Vets has gone to Africa and the other can't do the workload ensuing.

So it looks as though it has to be Motor Racing Medics nr Gatwick Airport. They do the test on a treadmill, they tell me.

Not sure if he has retired or not but Heart Specialist Mr Mills at Harlow Hospital always used to do mine.Memory being correct the cost was around the hundred mark.
