Talking of Christmas cards.Sorry I'm saving the planet this year and not sending any. Bit of a shame as its Delta's twentieth anniversary. Putting the saved money towards Escort so i hope you will not mind

Henrik Pedersen should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Mike: Nice looking car Henrik, sure Jacob will enjoy it when finished! Presume you are thinking of using 4 speed gearbox. Obviously Quaife and TranX are main suppliers of strengthened s/c close ratio internals, but it is also now possible to get helical c/r sets from another source. I will remember who shortly and post their name! Tell us more about your suspension and axle set up- how is front location done, ARB or link, and is rear axle on trailing arms and watts linkage, leaf springs or coils?

He is planning on moving the engine a little backwards, if possible(It has been done to soem of those running here)
Front will be links, and rear will be trailingarm and Watts link/leaf.But I woud prefer to have coil in the back, but its his car !!

Is there a big difference in the quality of Quaife versus TranX ?

HaHa- definitely not. Am not into present swapping very much and cards are bought but that is as far as they have got!

924 is bigger priority as want to get sorted asap so as can get some miles on it before April. Then want to get stuck into the orange RS2000 build, strip out my RS2000 road car for some reno work, finish off the Canary, rebuild Gilbern engine, fit handbrake on Morgan so can get MOTd, then concentrate on the prototype.... See you Xmas 2011

Moving engine within compartment was OK in Gp2 but a lot of work- you guys must be very competitive over there! I agree with you on using coils- easier to play with spring rates and ride height!

Front struts will need to be shorter for racing otherwise not enough travel. Gaz do shorter bodied ones, maybe other people do as well.

No knowledge of any problems with Quaife or TranX quality. They have both been making the Ford stuff for a while. Delivery time could be a factor when it comes to it.

There are about 4-6 Escort mk.1 in the class up to 1300 cc., and they up against some stiff resistence from a NSU TT driver and a Sunbeam Imp driver.
Over 1600 cc. there are 8-10 in Escort mk.1 in BDA and TC configurations.

The set-up he goes for is a soft tail, and harder front. We will have to do some experimenting, as we learn by mistakes. But hopefully no too many !!!

But what he hasnt shown is the n/s A pillar has all the rust cut out and new metal added, top of mounting pillar has been replaced and the whole shell has been virtualy seam welded plus started to etch prime it.
Am now waiting to send it over to Harlow to have front panel and wings fitted, then off to paint shop for finish painting, hopefully have it all done by the end of next week.

Thanks Mike - and Tel too. The reason i ask is that I when I was first testing the 'B at Silverstone in about Feb/March last year a friendly chap I got chatting to said he had several front heated screens left from a batch he had had made up. He gave me his tel no. and I only found it tucked into my wallet on Friday - gave him a call and whaddyaknow? He has 2 left for £100 each . Given that the original screens are not much less it seems like a no brainer - particularly as even in road trim they are notoriously lacking in any ventilation to clear it.

That should read "Am now waiting to send it over to Harlow to have front panel and wings fitted then get more holes welded up after all the road salt has rotted even more of it away".

Definitely a no brainer.....

Ask him if he has one for a Wolseley 1500 or Riley 1.5- that's what Gilbern takes!

Given that MSA rules demand effective screen clearing devices, and given that there should be no holes that allow the passage of flame in the bulkhead, it's the only thing you can do and stay within the letter of the law.

not necessarily - metal heater pipes and a fire resistant grommet (like the Montego had) meet the regs :-)

I found in Gilbern the back of my glove did the effective screen clearing- but unfortunately couldn't reach passenger side. With no heated screen available for 924 have gone retro and am using a smiths type screen heater that attaches to the bottom of the screen. Remember them?

Brilliant, and building it must be so much more civilised than lying on cold workshop floor this time of year!
