Oh, how nice I always seem to have enough trouble logging in to look at their stories anyway, so no great loss if I have to give it a miss completely now.

Autosport Online

I've just checked out the Autosport website and I see that it's necessary to subscribe or pay per view ( 3 quid per 20 articles!)to view the full article. What do you reckon, have they got their marketing all wrong, or will fans be happy to subscribe?

Bit of a shock, like when Atlas went pay-site a few years ago. We all learn to adjust.

It's a bit like paying an entrance fee to a newsagent before you buy a mag.

I've removed Autosport from my favorites.
Not impressed.

Autosport is a business.

Why should they provide their content free of charge?

If your a subscriber to the magazine you can access the website free.

all I want to know is the damn practice times!
i don't really care for the the usual "this track may suit us" or "the team are hoping to do well this weekend".
I'll go elsewhere to find the times..........hmmmm...maybe the ITV website!

Autosport.com never had even 10% of the news in the regular magazine.

It seems they are trying to get people to subscribe to the full version of Autosport.com/magazine by limiting the 'free' news on the site to a couple of paragraphs.

Good plan.

Subscribing to Autosport is cheaper than buying it each week.

Yeah but with the price of the magazine this does take the biscuit. If it goes above £3 in the next year I'm just going to read it in the newsagent and leave it

Agreed. It's a goos mag, but it is getting a little steep.

Thief!

If we all did that, there wouldn't be a magazine at all.

Hmm, so most people seem to feel it's a bit steep. I thought the idea of the website was give people snippets of news so that they'd then go and buy or subscribe to the magazine for more in depth reports and analysis. I think they've shot themselves in the foot, or whatever the saying is. Son of Jor-El, you can get the times of practice, qualifying etc from formula1.com - the site has live timing giving all the lap/sector times for every car, as it happens.

They ****ed me off with that totally pointless login screen.
At the start it never worked and when I tried to make them aware of the problem (and to let them know how annoying it was) by emailing them but to do that I had to go through the login screen which wasn't working at the time. A complete ****-off.
Still, the fact that they still seem at least as interested in the Canadian Grand Prix as Le Mans when clearly the biggest race anywhere in the World right now is Le Mans (how can a grand prix, of which there are 18 in a year in any way deserve to share headlines with a race that only occurs once a year and usually has more racing than the last 5 years has produced in F1?)
If you ask me they ought to call themselves F1Sport because they report bugger all else in any great detail.
Totally not worth a bean of my money.

It's not really charging to read a website.

It's free if you subscribe to the magazine - it's an added extra if you like.
