'Bottle's encounter with a new car...

We've just got back from a holiday in Florida during which we put 1200 miles on a rented Buick Century, A fine car, but one question still rings in my head like the annoying 'did it in the wrong order'alarm- the question is.....

Whats with those seatbelts?

The rear belts, once they've been withdrawn and latched up , will then not come out any further- unlike a good old-fashioned inertia belt. Not only do they then not come out any further but they will retract on a ratchet and the only way to extend them again is to undo the latch and fully retract them. Now try getting a baby seat out of that- it's was impossible to do it without tipping poor Little 'Bottle all over the place!
Aly tried sitting in the back seat so that she could feed Ellie her pot of splat- very difficult when your belt keeps locking you in- she had to undo it, retract and re-fit it several times.

How is this a safety feature?
