Agreed. Let's not clutter this dedicated TS040 thread with this discussion anymore. So Deltawing, my reply to your last post will be found there.

I think Toyota will go like Audi pretty much to the limits all season... they have the advantage of 2MJ, and ~equal advantage of fuel tank compared to 13... depends on how they can trade the 2MJ with less fuel flow so more economy, but perhaps they will be "comparatively to 13" a tiny little bit slower than an Audi, yet able to do more laps per tank LOL Which is an "arranged" counter-sense ... transposed to road cars and the propaganda mantras that could emanate from this, all sport and super cars will pass to be diesels, and all common ones will be petrol because more economic LOL |

Yes Akio Toyoda himself wants Toyota in rally, but with a hybrid. So look for 2017 to be their return. Which is good news for the lmp1 program.

I think it's another project from Toyota which does not have the highest priority for them.
Toyota has a history of having TMG build cars for testing purposes that are then never raced (the Lexus GTE for example), I think this is another case of that. Let's just hope TMG does not have to cut the LMP budget for this kind of stuff. |

So TMG might be pulling the funds out of the LMP budget themselves. |

That would be rather puzzling then. Why would they bother starting a new project when the current one has not been successful yet?
They're "just" taken on Audi and Porsche at Le Mans, one would think that such a task would call all resources to be focused. I guess not.. |

This was the case of the Peugeot 305 V6: Audi did the same with the Audi Group S Prototype: (Although that was more than just spare time) |

And the TTRS for SP3T racing, it was pretty much assembled with bits and pieces in the Audi Sport garage.

On topic, Toyota has an open question session on twitter starting the 27th coinciding with their TS040 reveal- http://www.toyotahybridracing.com/as...bastien-buemi/ #AskTS040 for Wurz and Buemi! Sounds interesting. Hopefully some insight of the car is explored in the questions. |

As long as it doesn’t affect their WEC campaign – that should be their main focus!
Not sure what the 2017 regs are – they do want hybrids; is that realistic for the WRC? |

Rally cars are based on road cars and there are lots of hybrid road cars.

Is there any confirmation about the possible increase of the displacement of the V8 from 3,4 to 3,7 litres ?
