I have seen close up the Cup Cars start to go away about from 1/2 way down ConRod-- greater aero can have big affect on top speeds achieved-- sometimes surprising which cars are fastest thru trap speeds . The first time I went there I expected to walk away on straights-- but I was about 10kmh down on Cup Cars.Actually better off on shorter straights.

The "Vicious Rumour 458 GT3", breaks cover this weekend at Phillip Island.

Ambitions and expectations are high, testing has gone incredibly well, and now to race...

Which of course is entirely different to testing. It'll be interesting, and exciting, as coming from doorslammer drag racing, he's never driven in the wet......

911's are very slippery compared to most...

we can out-drag them to ~180Km/h, it's stalemate to 200, then they start to run away, we have a higher power/weight but truly ****e aero Cd.

But you never really know what you're racing with a 996/997

There's so many go fast bits out there, sometimes even the drivers aren't aware of what they have!

so what?

the point still stands.

The cars in ProSports are also several years old now, and whilst they have undergone upgrades int hat time, they are not on the pace of the current GT3 911..

Example?...

Any current GT3CC competitors 997 is to Carrera Cup tech rules with only changes being control PFC brakes. Engines are dynoed and sealed. 996's get freedoms on clutches and brakes otherwise same tech regs. No aero mods allowed, not even the factory rear spoiler gurney because it wasn't Aust CC spec.

So who and what are we talking about?

There was a 6 hour enduro proddie race at Phillip Island yesterday...

Where are all the proddie sooks to discuss events.....

Or wasn't it interesting enough to get a mention without GT cars there?

Actually it was a really good finish to the event with Pollicina/Simpson chasing and catching Kostera/Tulloch to pass them with about 6-7mins left to run in the event.

But this is the 12 Hour thread ff....

Indeed it is... a thread born of proddie racers sooking about not being included.

I would have posted in their thread, had they bothered to do one... clearly not worth the effort???

It's been reported that as many as 7 people turned up to watch the 6 hour, so maybe they all got squashed in the rush to leave after the race.

Did the commentators introduce the crowd to the drivers or drivers to crowd?

About the same crowd as the GT Championship got a couple of years back when they held their own standalone event at the Island....

pay the 2013 12 hr entry by 31 august and pay $5500 inc GST.
after this date it's $11000

michelin, pirelli and hankook tyres permitted.

interesting pic of the 458 bella rosso ferrari in the pits. one of the two drivers not wearing a HANS device, i guess it was during practice or quali as there are fire marshalls on the fence. wonder if it was just pit stop practice or forgot and went out the gate without it?

Speedcafe are reporting that Armour All have pulled out of next year's event citing lack of entry growth as the reason.
I'd be somewhat surprised if this still goes ahead.

Disappointing news.
