Could have been a few. Gasly didn't get enough racing in which was unfortunate, but any one of the Mercedes drivers, Verstappen, Ricciardo, Kvyat, Perez, and Raikkonen would be worthy. I've given it to Perez - he had somehow gotten 3rd into his grasp but the soft tyre gamble unfortunately cost him and passing Leclerc (who honestly might be worthy of being discussed too) once those hard tyres were back into form was going to be a big ask around Imola.
I also wish to give Russell and Albon a negative vote for those embarrassing spins...

Dani Ric. And I’m allowed to vote for him because location doesn’t check out.

I would have thought the location did check out as he got that podium.

I went with Kvyat but was impressed with Sainz's collision avoidance skills.

A vote I never thought I would give. Kvyat. Personally I think he should have gone long ago from F1 but he gave himself some kind of a chance today. Still struggling to see how Perez could possibly have been dropped from RP/AM for a man who has not only lost his mojo but has completely forgotten what it ever looked like....

Actually, that was not a bad race by Vettel. This time, the result was ruined by the Ferrari pit crew, not by Vettel himself.

True enough, they did him no good at all. When it rains, it pours......

I didnt really get a good look at the SV vs Mags incident but SV did well to get back into the top 10...till the botched stop.
Declining skill set and bad luck often seem to go together.
