Martin Birrane

I have just learned of the death of Martin Birrane.

He was involved in motorsport for a long time. I first became aware of him through his sportscar exploits, and then racing at LeMans a number of times.

However he is probably best known in the motorsport world for his ownership of Lola and here in Ireland for his ownership and development of Mondello Park.

May he rest in peace.

Sad news, Lola has been a great name in all motorsports. An era is over

Very sad news. In my teens I helped Martin as he raced a Ford Falcon then a Ford Mustang (sponsored by Cona coffee). A really nice guy who loved big banger cars.

The Lola B99/50 and its success was done by him. Rest in peace.
