I really don't want to see this race... I'd call it off...

Fernandez and Takagi are still in the cars...

Just hearing...Fernandez is apparently alert and being extracted..

Now worry about Tora yet.

Word is Tora's in the same situation... Banged up, and they need to take precautions, but with all his parts still connected like they should be.

Hey, it's racing, this stuff happens. And everyone's okay, just like they're supposed to be.

Thumbs up to _everyone_ on the scene for jumping to the rescue... Drivers, safety crew, pit crews...

Shhhit.... That's an absolute miracle!!! They're saying possible injuries to his feet.

Hopefully the weather will improve in this break...

Nope.... Rain pouring down now.

They can't flag off the race though, this is going to have to happen one way or another.

All drivers out of wrecked cars - Fernandez and Takagi in ambulance. Fernanzed got HIT by the flying Takagi!

How no-one was seriously injured (waiting for news on Takagi though) is an absolute bloody miracle.

On-board footage from Andretti showed Tags FLIPPING in the air....

Looking at the replay, it wouldn't have been so bad if Dominguez hadn't plowed right into them all... I know it's zero visibility but, you have to have more sense than that.

Eh... Even if Mario'd try to do a panic stop, he'd have just locked up his brakes and still rammed in.

Just like to say before people start pinning blame is that I don't think there is anyone to blame. Wet track and spray with 18 high-powered cars usually = disaster.

Would anyone really want to get into a back up car after a wreck like that? I wouldn't and now it pouring ever more! What is Chris going to do?

Mario said that when he saw the rear lights & cars through the spray it was already to late to brake.

Vasser started the wreck when he ran into Fernandez!

One of the problems with this series is that they don't run in the rain that often. There may only be a couple of rain sessions a year, so there isn't much of a chance to test out the rain tires, setups etc as there are for many of the European series. Also, it doesn't give the drivers the needed experience in the rain.

Hopefully the weather improves... There's lightening now, so they'll have to take extra precautions..

Seeing another replay of it now... it started with Jimmy getting into the back of someone.

The race _will_ be run... Sorry, but there's no option at all here... CART would be eaten alive in the press and dead in a week if they called this race off.

Yeah, it'll be run... but wait til the lightening passes...

Takagi off to hospital for precautions...

Ah, good news! The worst injury Tora _might_ have is a cracked pelvis.

That's amazing...especially when you look at the replay and how many high-energy impacts he had.

Tora complaining of pain in his pelvis, so thankfully awake & able to speak. It's amazing that there weren't more serious injuries.

Fernandez and Takagi have been taken to Gold Coast Hospital for further observation.

The race will be eventually run, but when the rain evens out.

In all my life, I never never ever seen something so horrific... it all happened right in front of my face... incredible... the speed those last few people had was incredible....

At the time of the accident, Fernandez was a code three, and Tora a code 4, read what you want into that. When they pulled him from the car, they had taken off his boots, and his right sock.

It's rained very hard since, but it is easing up now... I wouldn't mind going home after seeing that...

Kanaan, who ran in third, was saying they shouldn't be starting on the parade lap.

Tags and Patrick both said they were in second gear when the accident occurred.

Vasser in medical centre for check-up but will most likely race.

Dario said it would have occurred no matter how the race started. The conditions were just atrocious.
