Craig Lowndes...
smashes Simon Wills off the track in race 2. Nice piece of work Craig. Not.

I don't think it was done on purpose, but it was a shocker.
Although there were a few drama's like that today. Ingall going full throttle into the sand was a classic example! |

He had a major drama, just Wills has shte enough luck to get in the way of it.

I was really dissapointed for Wills as he was heading for a deserved top ten finish.

Does anyone else believe that races 2 and 3 should have been red flagged? I mean that other times throughout the race the positions that the Lowndes, Wills and Ellery cars would have been deemed dangerous enough to require the pace car, but mysteriously because there was only a couple of laps to go it is safe. I think Marcus' reply said it all when notified of the restart, "what with a car there upside down?".

Fair point. The only thing that I can see is that the drivers were still in their cars in the other cases. Then again, Ingall was able to get out and walk away, and he was stuck, what, 5m away from Ellery's?

He was certainly carrying some speed, almost looked like he had a blown tire, cause he didnt seem to slow down much.

Wasn't a stuck throttle with sand ala Ingall was it?

BTW, the lock-up started a fair way back before the turn-in, would he have braked there if he had no problems? Further investigation maybe needed.

One of his tyres appeared to be locked up about 100 metres down the road before the impact

it looked like he had some sort of problem, as others said he was locked up for a fair bit & he's not the kind of driver that does things like that

I think he must of had some sort of problem.
Ask yourself, when was the last time (if ever) you can remember Lowndes doing something like that? |

At the track, Lowndes said sorry I just stuffed up, havn't seen it on the TV yet, but it looked like he locked up well before the 100 metre marker.

Mark Skaife had an off at the same point in last years round, which halted his run of consecutive round wins. The sand gets into everything- IIRC didn't HRT suspect sand in the throttle linkages, which btw is what caused Ingall's off this year as well?

Just finished watching that race - Lowndes obviously knew he had a problem - once he had started to lock a wheel he tried to move from behind Wills - to the right of the track - if he hadn't he would have gone right up the back of Wills.
The unfortunate part is that coming up next was the right hander... |

C'mon guys, just because Craig has made a mistake doesnt mean you have to go and bag him for it. Other drivers do things like that all the time and I dont see many threads bagging them. Problem with the car or not, he doesnt deserve to have this kind of stuff said!

Who's bagging him for it- I thought we were all having a discussion about how/why it happened, rather than giving him the raspberry.
