Champ Car Test at Tremblant

I didn't realise this was going to be nearly a full blown test, I thought it was just a few drivers getting additional seat time in the new car. Good to see so many show up, hopefully Tracy improves today.

MONT-TREMBLANT (May 24, 2007) - The wait is finally over. It took 39 years but Champ Cars have returned to the track at the Circuit Mont-Tremblant. It might have only been for a private test session for the seven teams and 12 drivers present but hearing the song of the turbo-charged Cosworth engines around the 2.65-mile permanent road course was music to the ears of everyone present and it was even more delightful for the stars of the Champ Car World Series

Mont Tremblant Unofficial Test Times (May 24th)

1. Robert Doornbos - 1:17.97
2. Dan Clarke - 1:18.10
3. Sebastien Bourdais - 1:18.19
4. Simon Pagenaud - 1:18.21
5. Will Power - 1:18.41
6. Graham Rahal - 1:18.45
7. Justin Wilson - 1:18.61
8. Alex Tagliani - 1:18.98
9. Paul Tracy - 1:19.02
10. Tristan Gommendy - 1:19.21
11. Alex Figge - 1:20.77

Indeed! considering that the track is new to everyone, it's very telling.

I'm excited about them running this track. I am, however, disappointed that they're running a chicane, and am now rather worried about what will happen at Turn 1 on the first race lap.

There is 1.05 seconds covering the top 9 cars. I wouldn't exactly classify this as Team Minardi running away with it. First time at the track in equal cars - it would seem parity has been achieved.

And then there was Day 2. Sebastien Bourdais made his way back to the top of the charts, 0.13 ahead of Justin Wilson, 0.33 ahead of Tristan Gommendy, and 0.35 ahead of Robert Doornbos. Nine drivers within 0.72, than a gap of 0.43 back to Paul Tracy, and more to the two PCM drivers.

1. Sebastien Bourdais, 1:16.41
2. Justin Wilson, 1:16.54
3. Tristan Gommendy, 1:16. 74
4. Robert Doornbos, 1:16.76
5. Graham Rahal, 1:16.83
6. Will Power, 1:16.95
7. Simon Pagenaud, 1:17.01
8. Dan Clarke, 1:17.05
9. Alex Tagliani, 1:17.13
10. Paul Tracy, 1:17.56
11. Ryan Dalziel, 1:17.82

Hmm! Sebastien Bourdais. Yes, I do think I remember him being at the top of the time charts.

If he keeps it up he may amount to something.

No offense, but unless he makes the jump to F1 soon, than the status achieved will equate only into being a Big Fish in a rather small pond.

Rumour has it that Seabass is almost certain to 'surface' (ouch) at Toro Rosso next year.

We shall see, Leighton! Lots of good drivers trolling about the paddock there these days...

The rumour of Nicholas Todt buying into Toro Rosso is an intruiging one, especially from Bourdais perspective
